2012 shocks?
I have a 2012 lariat 4x4, I occasionally pull a 3500lb boat/trailer which makes the truck feel mushy. I'm looking for shocks that are a little stiffer than stock but not to the point of a harsh ride. the truck ride smooth empty and wouldn't want to loose that, it also has around 46,000 miles on the originals, so it's time for new anyway. what are your upgraded suggestions and how did you come to that decision?

Beer, Boats, and Trucks.
Just front or rear or both?
I cant wait till I get my hands on a set of Boss Coilovers, from what I've heard they do about what you're asking for if you mean fronts. For rears, Bilsteins get great reviews!

For rear shocks, Bilstein 4600 works great on my 2012 SuperCrew 4x2. I ordered the shocks from ShockWarehouse.com and had Midas install them. The rear shocks were easy to install so inexpensive labor charge to install them. However, the front shocks are actually part of the front struts (shocks inside the front coil springs) so Midas charged me a lot to R&R the front shocks.)

Bilstein tend to be a little on the rough side. Monroe makes a very nice truck/SUV shock that gives only a slightly firmer ride but are progressive. The harder you work them the stiffer they get. Monroe Reflex
