I've found that the mile-o-meter on my EcoB is extremely accurate. Maybe that's only in the Direct Injection engines, dunno. But there's zero average difference between hand calculated and the display estimates according to my calculations. And I suspect most of the variation comparing the two is due to errors when topping up the tank.

I owned a 2013 EcoB prior to my FX4, I drove to WV to pick up a 28FT toyhauler. I averaged 11.5-13 on my return trip to GA. Now with the FX4 5.0, towing the same trailer, I average about 9 MGP.

I've been tossing the idea of a tuner but not sure if this will help out any or not!!! Any input/advice

Ohh yeah it will help. Maybe 1-2 mpg's and you can dial in shift points; turn on your electric fans earlier, spark curve, fuel richness, etc.. Put an intake and exhaust on that 5.0 and I bet it handles your pull a lot better!

Sounds about right. Snowmobile trailers are wide (102inch.) and even if covered they hang out beyond the sides of the truck and catch a ton of wind.
Remember, your running winter blend gas to boot.
The old truck would pull less mpg on trips to northern Quebec or Michigan UP than you're seeing.
My other trailers get better (2-4mpg) when loaded heavier, on summer blend.
My snowmobile buddy gets a little better (16 max) with ecob/w tuner.
The boat and trailer (6-7k) is another story.

I have a 2013 STX 5.0 with 3.55 gears. I've pulled a 14 enclosed trailer every day for 12 years. Had a 1997 with a 4.6 and a 2005 with a 4.6 and 3.55 gears. I've gotten 10-12 mpg towing with all of them. Bought an SCT tuner with 5-star tunes for the 2013. I got a little more power and firmer shift points. No better mileage. Your mileage seems a little low, but only by 1-2 mpg.

Ps the trailer only weights 465lbs and each sled weights around 525lbs

I average about 14-15 mpg (tow/haul mode) towing a 12' tandem axle utility trailer at 65 mph with about the same loaded gross weight. Same gears.

Snowmobiles create a lot of drag so even an open trailer gets pretty lousy mileage.

My enclosed Triton clamshell presents a whole lot more drag compared to the truck.

I track every fillup on fuelly and usually add a note when towing. I see when I last towed my clamshell with two sleds I got 12.93 and 12.57mpg (ecoboost extended cab 4x4).

Keep in mind snow stuck to the body of your truck or your trailer will increase drag.

These low weights and low MPG numbers just go to show that drag is a bigger factor than weight in most cases.

Well you are lucky to me. I have a tuner and no trailer and I am getting 12.4MPG.

Much of it is probly just how much the trailer and what you are hauling is messing up the air and causing drag. Friends 300lb catamaran on a 1500lb trailer gets as bad or worse mileage than his 18ft Featherlite Vnose (extra tall) enclosed trailer does behind his truck. His sailboat rocks in the water, but on the trailer and how everything is setup just causes a lot of disturbance in the air and thus a lot of extra drag even though it doesn't weigh anything.
