Default issue with 7 pin connector on 2015

Hello, I just pulled my camper with my 2015 F150 yesterday and ran into the trailer not connected not far down the road.

The plug is so loose that any movement at all and it loses signal.

I had to put a screw in next to it to hold it in place.

Has anyone ran into this issue with the Ford plug? It seems very sloppy.

It's not my trailer plug, I pull it with two other trucks and have never had this problem.

Did I get a bad plug?

Thanks

One thing that I have done a LOT of over the years is wire trailers, and i have discovered that some brands of plug don't like some brands of socket. I have run into a few that had blade width discrepancies that physically would not couple. In my experience Bargman has been the most problematic when it comes to marginal or lost connections. They use a tapered contact surface and the socket is basically trying to push the plug out all the time. I've had good success with Pollack and Hoppy male plugs.

Its certainly possible that you have a bad receptacle on the truck, but that should be visually apparent if so. I know you said the trailer plug fits a couple other trucks OK, but I still think its your underlying problem. Good luck.
