Default Wolvee's Build

Sorry. I was parked behind the wife and had to knock it out before she wanted to leave.

Some random thoughts on the Expedition / 7700 brake swap in one post:

Brake lines will be the same.

Needed parts:
2002 Expedition Rotors
Loaded or semi loader Expedition OR F150 w/ 7700gvw package calipers
a.loaded means with caliper bracket & pads
b.Semi-loaded means with caliper bracket w/o pads

when searching sometimes you'll see 7700gvw pkg, these are usually the same as Expedition calipers, except they have steel pistons.

Your search criteria will be either 02 Expedition calipers & Rotors --or-- 03 F150 w/7700gvw pkg & 02 Expedition Rotors.

You can source all of these locally from your auto parts stores but almost all their brands will have Phenolic (plastic) pistons in the calipers. Steel being more desirable and usually exclusive to the -03 F150 w/ 7700gvw pkg.

You can not order Rotors for the 7700gvw pkg because they are 7 lug.

I think the Expedition brake swap is a worthy upgrade IF-IF-IF you already have to change your rotors, pads or calipers but not something I'd do just because I was bored.

Also, if you don't tow or "drive it like you stole it," I doubt you'd even notice a difference. The Rotors themselves are NOT larger in diameter but they are 5 or 6 mills thicker, also there is more brake pad in contact with the rotor. I would say the benefit is mostly in preventing brake brake fade and fatigue more than it is about normal driving and stopping.

I went with A1 Cardone from Rock auto and Ford Rotors.

A few notes on the subject:
don't install the calipers upside down, lol. (bleeder needs to be above the banjo bolt)
Buy Premium pads as they will come with the quality hardware
If you can, do a dry run getting the banjo bolt through the threads of the new calipers, otherwise you may cross thread them.
Use this as an opportunity to change out your brake fluid.

These are my purchased caliper part numbers from Rock Auto
A-1 CARDONE 18B4652S
A-1 CARDONE 18B4653S

These ^ do not come with pads. I bought my premium ceramics locally.

The price shipped was $159.. $63 of which I got back as my Core charge after I returned my calipers to them. Shipping was easy -I used their boxes and their FedEx label. They took shipping out of the cost of the Core refund and was around $7. (70-7=63)

Yes, I would absolutely do this again.

I'm putting these in my instrument cluster today or tomorrow. I know the cool thing to do is change to blue but I'm not going to go through that hastle.

This will probably be one of the last things I do to the truck until after the new year when we buy a house. After that, it's build the engine, E-lockers, new interior and then Paint.

PA 3" body lift.

I'm putting my running boards back on so the wife and munchkin can get in the truck easier. The body lift is the only way to do it so I don't lose ground clearance.
