Default Wiggum's Build

I really don't have a clue why I'm doing this thread. I guess it's just more for documentation than anything else. I wouldn't really consider this a "build" anyway, since what I have done, and perhaps plan to do, is not really something I see as "building" or "modding"...

Oh well, anyway, the specs for my truck are in my sig below. Here's what it looked like as driven off the lot:

As you can see, nice truck for sure ... but lacking the aggressive look such a truck deserves. So, she got some new shoes and learned to stand up straight w/ good posture:

AS 1.5" kit up front, 2" rear blocks, 275/65r20 Nitto TG's ... effective 3" of level/lift with regards to the ride height of the truck. Because this is my DD, I didn't go with super aggressive mud/off-road tires. I prefer the tires be a little more quiet and better suited for everyday driving. I do admit though, a nice set 33" MT's that were a little wider than stock DO look amazing on these trucks.

So, the only other real mods I plan on are possibly tinting my front windows almost as much as the rear ... replacing the red FX4 decals w/ some monochrome versions from MoodyBlue ... and then adding a couple of Rigid Dually lights into the bumper between the bumper pads and the center license plate bracket. I did a little photoshop to see what that would look like and it looks good to me. This isn't my truck, but same idea ... close enough:

And, just for fun ... I photoshopped my truck to see what it would look like if I got the wild hair to play the "blackout" game ...

Just out of curiosity, where did you get the 2" rear block and how how much rake do have?

I got the 2" block from AutoSpring ... I took my 1.375" block out, and put in the 2" block.

When I got my truck, it had about 1.75" of rake from back to front. After installing the 1.5" AutoSpring level it, the front was about 1/8" higher than the rear. After putting in the new block, my rake is about 1/2" from back to front.

Thank you. Is it the one for the 2 wheel drives?

well, since this thread has been revived, and since I've done a couple more things since last time I was posting here ... I'll put up a new pic of my truck:

I really like the stance and personality of your truck, I'm looking forward to modding mine next spring. I am super envious of the new FX4 fender graphics, I sure wish they were still available. Thanks for sharing your mods and pictures with us.

IMHO, don't do the blackout look. It was cool for about a year or so 3 or 4 years ago.

Now everyone and their mother has the murdered look, or at least partially going on.

I think you should keep those stock gray FX4 wheels, and the lift looks great. I'd definitely go with the Dually D2s on the license plate sides (I have them, 5.0 like you), and I'd suggest the Gibson 3" I 4" O slip-on tailpipe. First cut off about 10" of the stock pipe, then slip it on. I also painted the exposed/visible area of the remaining stock pipe with black paint.

The Cravenspeed looks good, too - as long as you're not >50% radio over-the-air. But most folks these days use their smartphones to play music so no biggie.

Thanks to both of you. I'm not gonna go "blackout" on this truck ... I just wanted to see what it would look like.

I have thought about shortening the tail pipe but may or may not ever get around to modding it.

and yes, I don't rely on terrestrial radio very often, but this antenna is almost just as good as the OEM full length antenna. I really don't have any loss of reception, and it's nice not having that huge floppy thing bugging me.
