Gatorblue92’s 2020 Magnetic XLT build thread...
Finally decided to make a build thread for my 2020 3.5 Ecoboost XLT since I’m planning on keeping this one for at least 5 years until my oldest gets his drivers license and adding quite a bit of mods along the way.
Started off with a 302a XLT package which was very well equipped with the tow package, 36 gallon tank, navigation, FX4, Tailgate step, Ford spray in liner and Ford wheel well liners among the as built options. Not exactly how I would have ordered it since it has most of the max tow options but selected individually instead of as the package but as a leftover 2020 model I'm very happy with it.
Added the husky liners and Bakflip MX4 from my previous 2018 truck as well as some aftermarket tow mirrors from Amazon.
more to come...

Test fit my 20x9+20 Fuel Vapor wheels and 33x12.5 Nitto Ridge Grapplers with the stock suspension setup and they fit well with no rubbing.

Had a spacer level on my last truck but went with Bilstein 5100’s this time set to 1.75” to keep some rake for towing and put the Fuels and 33’s back on.

Added the larger 8” screen cluster today which I got from Livnitup. Highly recommend his service where he supplies the cluster and programs it to match your specific application.

Coming soon to a truck near me. 295/55/20 BFG KO2’s. I’ve been suffering through these rough F load tires for the past few years on prior trucks and after towing my camper to Florida and back to Delaware with the worn ridge grapplers I decided it was time for some good quality E load tires so I got these from Tire Rack.

Got the new BF Goodrich AT KO2’s installed today. Bought them from Tire Rack and used their mobile installation service for the mounting and balance and I’m very happy with the service. Only $100 for the install and I didn’t need to worry about taking the truck somewhere which since I’ve been working from home is super convenient.
Only went for a quick test drive at lunchtime but I can already tell these ride much better than the Nittos.

Since the truck is leveled I’ve had some squatting issues when I’m loaded up for towing so I added the Roadmaster Active Suspension to the truck and used the black spacer for setting the spring tension. So far I’m very happy with the results. It’s cured the squat when towing and also vastly improved the quality of the ride both when I’m loaded and empty. It did raise the rear end up about 3/4” so in a way it’s canceled the level but overall I’m very happy with it.

Looking for some tire advice again since my BFGs are getting a bit worn and we are planning on a 3 week road trip this summer pulling the camper.
Option 1: Current wheels (Fuel Vapor 20x9+20) with new Nitro Ridge Grapplers in 295/60/20 size.
Option 2: Go with a 17x8.5 ish wheel (Either Method NV or Fuel Rebel) and some variation of a 33" Nitro Ridge Grappler.
Pros to option 1: Ive got the wheels and can just go anywhere for the tires.
Pros to option 2: About 15lbs lighter and going forward far cheaper tires.
For those who have had both setups would I notice any significant difference between the two? I like the idea of less unsprung weight but I'm concerned about the extra sidewall having an impact in towing stability. Both would be a similar E load tire.
PFA of our trip 2 years ago to Yellowstone and the Tetons.
