Trading my truck for a Chevy :(
Having a discussion with my father last night. He wants to give his grandson,
my nephew, a truck for Christmas. He'd rather have him in a truck over a Civic
and I don't blame him a bit. Of course, the kid is an avid hunter/fisher so he
wouldn't fit right in a little car.
That said, my dad has an 03 2500 HD that sits around a lot on the farm. He wants
to give me that truck and have me hand my F-150 down to my nephew. I think
the Ford is a better truck and far more suited to a new, teenage driver. Fuel will
be cheaper, it will be easier to park, drive and use. I've done a lot of work to it
so it's in great running condition and shouldn't really need anything more than oil
changes and tires.
Chances are good this will end up happening even though I'll have to put some
money into the old Chevy to get it back up to a daily driver. But hey, that's part
of the fun, right?
This forum has been great. I guess by January I'll be over posting on the Duramax
forums... Sad.
Oh, I did get to install my bed lights and courtesy door lights last weekend. I'll
see if I can get some photos up of that stuff.

You won't be complaining one bit once you get the dirtymax looking and driving nice. One of my dads work trucks has a dmax in it and it goes like a raped ape. Once that turbo spools you'll forget all about your f150 haha. I get sad getting back in mine after I drive any diesel lol

Once you get your Dirtymax, give "Idaho" Rob Coddens a call at ATP trucks in Boise, Idaho. He'll get you set up with the best tuning available for the Duramax with EFI live software.

Big Rob's tuning is awesome. One of the our company trucks is tuned by him. I wish I got to drive it on a daily basis instead of the junk F450 I have to drive everyday.

pretty neat joy though. He's a good kid and I have no doubt he would take care
of it. The Duramax is in pretty good shape. Pops stopped driving it when he got
his company truck a few years ago. Only been used to tow hay trailers and cattle
trailers here and there.
No lift on my truck. Just a torsion bar crank and 305s. I love it. It's been one of
the greatest vehicles I've owned. Especially from where it started...
Sadly I don't have a current one. Weird. I'll have to fix that.
All that being said, looks like my nephew's dad really wants him to get a Jeep,
but I think eventually the aspect of a "free" truck will prevail. Stay tuned.

The weather has been horrible. My sister is there in LA with my folks. She's supposed to try
and get me some photos of it when it stops raining. When I get em, I'll get them posted.
