Is that just the FX4 Strut or is that for 4WD too?

All FX4's are 4x4, otherwise it would be an FX2.

I think his question is whether there is any difference between the FX4 strut and say an XLT 4x4 strut.

I hope someone can help with this. I really do not know if the FX4 suspension is the same as the 4x4.

I am headed to the dealership later today to talk to my buddy Marco. He may be able to point me to the right person to ask.

So i used the Vin decoder that is here on the forums, up top under tools. I have an FX4. I put in my VIN and selected my exact trim as FX4. I went to the TECH SPECS tab, and i scrolled down until i found this info...

Suspension Type - Front Double-Wishbone
Suspension Type - Rear Live Axle
Spring Capacity - Front3600, 3900 lbs (3600.0 min/4050.0max)
Spring Capacity - Rear4050, 3850 lbs (3850.0 min/4050.0max)
Axle Type - Front Long-Spindle
Axle Type - RearSemi-Float Beam
Axle Capacity - Front4050 lbs (4050.0 min/4050.0max)
Axle Capacity - Rear4800 lbs (3800.0 min/4800.0max)
Axle Ratio (:1) - Front4.10, 3.73, 3.31, 3.55 (3.15 min/4.1max)
Axle Ratio (:1) - Rear4.10, 3.73, 3.55 (3.15 min/4.1max)
Shock Absorber Diameter - Front36.068 mm (36.068 min/36.068max)
Shock Absorber Diameter - Rear32.004 mm (32.004 min/32.004max)
Stabilizer Bar Diameter - Front1.34 in (1.34 min/1.34max)

Someone with a XLT, put your VIN in and copy the info you get for that. We can then compare the 2.

So i am quoting myself. I actually selected 4wd supercrew xlt, and this is what i found.

Suspension Type - FrontDouble-Wishbone
Suspension Type - RearLive Axle
Spring Capacity - Front3600, 3900 lbs (3600.0 min/4050.0max)
Spring Capacity - Rear4050, 3850 lbs (3850.0 min/4050.0max)
Axle Type - FrontLong-Spindle
Axle Type - RearSemi-Float Beam
Axle Capacity - Front4050 lbs (4050.0 min/4050.0max)
Axle Capacity - Rear4800, 4100, 3800 lbs (3800.0 min/4800.0max)
Axle Ratio (:1) - Front4.10, 3.73, 3.55, 3.31, 3.15, 3.55 (3.15 min/4.1max)
Axle Ratio (:1) - Rear4.10, 3.73, 3.55, 3.31, 3.15, 3.55 (3.15 min/4.1max)
Shock Absorber Diameter - Front36.068 mm (36.068 min/36.068max)
Shock Absorber Diameter - Rear32.004 mm (32.004 min/32.004max)
Stabilizer Bar Diameter - Front1.34 in (1.34 min/1.34max)

According to my findings, they seem identical.

Looks like the next step is to plasti-dip the front grill and either paint the trim on the head/tail lights or swap out to HDs... sticks out like a sore thumb at this point...
