Default RedAggie03's 2014 FX4 EcoBoost SCrew

Hello everyone!

I'm a forum jukie and love build threads

I just picked up a new leftover 2014 F150 FX4 in Oxford White. I traded in my 2013 Explorer Sport because we needed a better family vehicle / tow vehicle. I really loved the Explorer Sport, it was fast. I need other things right now and the Explorer just didn't have the space we thought it would.

Here's the standard issue stock photo:

Here's my old Sport...I ALMOST bought that Ruby Red FX4, but I couldn't get a good enough deal on it...I like white better anyway

First off, I'd like to level my truck. I see that the 2014's have a slightly different suspension up front and only need a smaller leveling kit to level them out...

So I was thinking about going with the AS 1.5". I'm hoping this will level me out and leave me with a little rake as I plan on towing a pop-up and don't really want to run a WDH, AAL's, or air bags if I don't have to.

Thoughts? Anyone else with a 2014 care to share your experiences?

Second, I'm going to trade in my stock tires and get 275/65-20 BFG A/T KO2's put on.

My FX4 is exactly what I was looking for....except for one thing that I discovered when I got to the dealership...They had installed old man pin stripes down both sides not my style...

So this had to be fixed...why not, lets put harsh chemicals on a new $50k truck...

I started with the bed and it worked! Came off super easy actually....

Here I am in progress on the door:

LOOK! It's gone, YES!!

So that's my first mod I guess...Woo hoo

Looking good.

The pin stripes were painted on? You mentioned chemicals.

KPT2, yes - they were painted on. I was really worried about damaging the clear coat, but the paint they used was so weak it almost wipes off, but I taped everything so I only got the stripes with the chemical. I'll polish and wax it again, but you REALLY can't tell they were there...I was kinda shocked to be honest.

Festivaboy92, I kind like the FX4 logo...and no flex fuel badge here man...EcoBOOST baby...

I think my next mods are:

- front plate delete (right side blank cover)
- tail gate assist
- short antenna
- rear husky wheel well liners
- 1.5" AS level
- 275/65-20 BFG KO2's

Congrats on the new truck!

I also have a '14 FX4 Ecoboost - Ruby Red - and I wanted White, lol!

I went with a 2" front level and added a Super Spring in the back to sure things up for towing, overall I'm very pleased with the results. Without the Super Spring, I don't think I'd have any rake at all but the spring raised the rear up enough to maintain about 1" rake.

I kept the stock wheels, like them, and put Nitto Terra Grappler G2s in 295/60/20 on them and it looks great.

Here's an "ok" picture of it, don't have any good ones yet, sorry....

Hi dlosfx4! Thanks for the info!! I'm hoping that the 1.5" Autospring will work because the only 1" kit I know of is the daystar. There was one guy with a 1" kit on a 2014 and he said that it was a good level with no rear lift needed.

Do you have to run spacers with 295/60's?? How does it tow? do you regret going big (MPG)?

Thanks again

oh an Ps, I REALLY like the Ruby Red too...great color.

I do run a 1/4" spacer on the wheels, forgot to mention that yesterday. I might step up to 1/2" to bump the tires out a tad more and see how that works out but not any time soon.

I came from a Nissan Armada so as far as "going big" in respect to MPGs there's no real difference, I may actually be getting a little better MPG with the Ford, even with the mods.

I think towing is better with the F150 than the Armada, the additional wheel base alone makes things more stable. The Armada is an extremely capable tow vehicle but I am enjoying towing more with the 150.

I am considering adding air bags to the F150, I'd leave the springs on, to further increase the rear end stability and all but eliminate the sag that still occurs when the RV is hooked up.

Yeah, I don't want to run spacers, so I think I'm going to stick with 275/65's.
