Recon's 2013 Fx4
Well first off I am new here. I use to frequent another forum but after purchasing my new truck and searching the internet I stumbled on this site and like the atmosphere here, so i figured I'll stick around.
This is going to be a slow build thread as it takes me forever to decide on parts. So here it goes:
A few weeks ago I traded my 2006 Fx4
For this, A 2013 Fx4
The first thing I did after getting the truck was to get the windows tinted and get the ugly pinstripe taken off.
Only real mod Ive done so far is to add the home link into the visor. Didn't take long with the help of a few links I found on this site. Looks and works just like it came from the factory.
Mods that I hope to accomplish in the near future include:
- 20 Inch Fuel wheels (thinking the black and machined Nutz)
- 305 55 20 terra grapplers
- Bilstien 5100 leveling shocks all the way around
- Edge cts Programmer
- Bed rug
- Bakflip bed cover
- AFE Exhaust and intake
- Would like to replace the radio but not sure if thats possible yet

NEW STUFF!!!
The other day I installed a bedrug
I also added lights to the bed of the truck. I wanted the lights to come on when I opened the tailgate so I wired the lights to a pin switch. I also installed a weatherproof rocker switch so I can turn the lights off in case I drive with the tailgate down with my four wheeler in the back.
I bought the lights off of ebay. They are the 5050 led lights the are the cool white color and weather proof. Only paid about $15
Here is where I installed the pin switch, had to drill a hole into my truck which took a few minutes to get the nerve to do.
I bought a bunch of rocker switches trying to find one that i liked, I ended up buying this one from Superbrightleds.com and it worked perfect. I had to use a razor blade to cut out a hole through the bed rug and installed the switch in the a hole already in the truck.
The led lights have a sticky side to them but its not that strong to attach them to the truck and since I have a bed rug I had to find a way to attach the lights to the rug under the bed rail. I found some long velcro strips at walmart that had a strong glue on one side. The course velcro attached to the bedrug and then I attached the sticky side of the led lights to the sticky side of the velcro... worked like a charm and is super strong.
Lights are really bright!
I dont have a night pic of them but this is a shoot in the middle of the day, it was a little overcast but you can still see how well it lights up the bed. This is by far the best thing I've done to any of my trucks!

Found time to install a holster for my XDS. I had a appendix holster I was trying out but I don't think that kind of carry is for me.
So I took a piece of aluminum and cut it up and rounded the edges then wrapped it in a felt type fabric attached the holster to it and then used velcro to attach the holster to the truck. Here's how it turned out.
I also ordered a SCT livewire ts, that should be here early next week. After that I am going to look into wheel and tires and a level kit.... stay tuned

Good looking ride. Very similar to mine! I put the pinstripe on mine. I was pretty particular about it...doesn't look like yours started or finished well. I like the bed rug and the lights! The holster idea is nice too!

thanks everybody for the nice words so far!
I got my SCT livewire in the other day and like some have already done I used the edge mount to mount it. I like the look a lot better than the suction cup to the window.
Now one thing that really bothers me is hearing rattles in my truck and any time I would put a bottle or cup in the cup holders they would rattle (more so with water bottles) so I took some felt I used when mounting my holster and cut them in small circles
I put them in the bottom of the cup holders (2 pieces into each cup holder)
you can't even see them and no more rattles! I'm not sure why they rattle I never had my old truck do that but this was an easy fix
Now I am going to get some custom tunes for the tuner and hopefully after the holidays get some wheels and tires.
