Default 2013 black XLT to FX4 conversion... Slowish

I thought I would start my build thread. I am slowly ridding my truck of Chrome. I really wanted to buy a used FX4 but, alas they were quite a bit more money. So now I am hoping to slowly change my XLT to closely resemble an FX4 while saving some coin.

So far I have put on some used FX4 headlamps and a used set of gun metal 20" FX4 wheels. I have also updated the front and back interior lights with LED's, which are quite bright, from f150leds.com.

I just put on some multi mile open country XTX today on as well. 275/55

I got my eye on a grille, just can't decide if I am going to paint my chrome. Has anyone done this? Does it hold up? Not sure I will be happy with the results and so I am leaning towards a ptm fx4 grille.

I have stainless handles covers on order to paint out.

Plan on custom emblems from custom truck solutions in black and grey.

Will be spraying the side steps out with bed liner.

I am doing this all fairly slowly but will keep updating as I go. If anyone has done a similiar build let me know, especially if you have any tips.

Got a used 2012 fx4 grille from the WTB section. Looks great. Next up I am going to do PTM handle covers and bed line my side steps. Then will be emblems and finally the bumpers. By that point it will be time to move to the interior, leather, centre console and kicker upgrade should do it.

She's coming along man! I am in the same boat, not a big fan of chrome either. The Kicker Sub and Speaker will definitely make a difference. Do you have the Eco or the 5.0?

Thanks man. I have the ecoboost. I had a 5.0 before this and I kinda miss the mileage with the v8. I find my Eco is terrible in town. But I do love it when I tow my fifth wheel.

I added Firestone air bags on the back, I was worried it about it squatting when I tow my fifth wheel. There is absolutely no sag at all lol, I was worried about nothing. Unfortunately I don't have much more than 2" of clearance because it's a an older camper. I raised the hitch up, but I will probably have to drop the pin box on the trailer if I can. If not I will be flipping the axles on top of the suspension.

Default FX2 Parts

I have The Grill, Front Bumper, Rear Bumper and Running Boards if you decide not to paint yours. They are off of my 2014 FX2 with only 10,000K miles.
