Default My Black FX4 Build

This likely won't be anything too interesting for most of you. I'm mainly creating this to track my own ownership. Mods will probably be few (and far between) based on deals I find locally or on Craigslist. I can't justify dumping money into my rig when I've got much more important things going with my wife and toddler.

Now that I've lowered the bar of expectation for this thread... In May I purchased a new (to me) 2009 F-150 FX4 Super Crew Short-bed. I'm the second owner of this truck. It was meticulously maintained by it's previous owner which gave me confidence in purchasing. It is bone stock, other than some Nitto All-Terrains that came on the rig.

This is my third Ford Truck. I've owned a 1999 F-250 7.3 4x4 with a 4 inch lift, turbo back exhaust, and some 35's. After that rig was stolen, I purchased a 2005 F150 Lariat 4x4 which I owned for a couple years. I started commuting quite a bit so I drove cars for a while but it never quite felt right.

The primary usage of this truck will be my Daily Driver. I use it for home projects (improvements/landscaping) and to haul my gear around.

If I had my way, I'd slowly be converting it into a getaway/camping rig which I will likely do overtime. I'd love to get set up so I can take my wife and young one camping when the weather is more tolerable. I want my daughter to love and appreciate nature. My dad also lives a few hours away in Oklahoma and I like to get down there when I can to get out on the lake fishing and spend some time with him.

Now onto the upgrades... Amazon recently shipped me my first item, which is a d-shackle & winch receiver.

I'm just waiting on my locking hitch pin to arrive tonight before I throw it on (I've read these things can disappear from time to time).

I'll get some kickoff pictures up sometime soon as well.

A stock truck is a great camping and getaway rig just as it is. Enjoy it and how capable it is from the factory! If you go with someone else with a 4x4, you have recovery points on both ends so you aren't doing half bad!

That's a great point.

Right now the biggest issue is simply finding the time.

Love the look of that truck. I have a 2012 FX4 Supercrew that looks almost exactly like it. I kept it as is for over 4 yrs before finally getting around to changing anything on it. Enjoy the time with your family. Maybe later on fixing it up can become a project you can have fun doing with your kid
