Default My '99 F-350 Lariat build

I picked up this '99 F-350 Lariat with the 6.8L V-10 today with the intention of imediatly selling it, but I think I'm going to keep it. It only has 125k miles so still has a lot of life left, but the body is totaled. It was a truck from Minnesota, so the bed is rusted out and the cab corners are rusted out.

The reason I bought the truck is because the wheels and tires are brand new, and I only spent 3200 on it. I think if it really came down to it I could still make money parting it out.

I was told it is on a 6" lift, and it has brand new 37x13.5R17 Cooper tires.

I want to keep this one cheap, I will probably get a new bed, doors (depending on how far the rust got through), and have someone weld in new metal for cab corners, then put bed liner on the whole truck. I wouldn't doubt it if I take the lift off and use this as my new work truck, that may happen when I wear out these tires.

FYI there isnt as much life left in the V10 They are notorious for grenading them selves anywhere from 150k-200k.

Looking at what I have to put into the truck it will either stay in it's current state and be used as my occasional work truck / hunting rig, or I may just as equally shove another bed on it, put new cab corners on it, bedliner the whole truck and sell it.

If I had that truck, I would look for a 7.3 and slap that in it. The V-10's (IMHO) are one of the worst motors Ford has ever made. Underpowered, gas hog's and their unreliable in my experience.

I think I'm just going to sell it, and sell my 150 next year then buy a newer F-150, or F-250. I did get new tires for the truck though, 37x12.5R16.5 Super swampers.

Ended up selling her. I bought it for 3200, fixed a brake line for 300, spent 400 licencing it (it came from out of state), traded a guy tires and he ended up giving me 1k on top, then I ended up selling the truck today for 3750, so I made a total profit of 850 dollars.

Nothing better than making a few bucks. I had a 96 7.3, bought it from Michigan for $1800, the ONLY rust was on the bottom of the extended cab part and half of it was completely gone. I used body filler on one side, and said f-it on the other side, threw on some spray bed liner around the bottom, 2 new ball joints, and a chip (people around here go crazy over chips) Listed it for 4K, had someone come snag it the next day for $3200. Not to mention it had 296,000 miles, and leaked about 5 quarts of oil per week, but let me tell you, that old 7.3 was pretty damn quick on the top end. And I just about melted the rear tires off of it after I got the chip. I'm really glad that I've grown up since summer and actually take care of my F150, trying to make it nicer and not thrashing it.

That's super cool man! I'd love to get into diesels someday.
