The wheel is 100% better than the XL. It feels less bulky and the leather is worlds above the vinyl. Makes a pretty big improvement in driving enjoyment.

Default XLT mirrors

I picked up a set of XLT pedestal mirrors, plus a beautiful weekend and freshly washed.

Default Painted Mirror Caps

I added some color matched mirror caps. I really prefer this look over the textured black abs cover and think they should come this way from factory. This of course just starts my journey to color match the rest of the abs stuff -- door handles and maybe tailgate latch / handle.

PTM mirrors caps are definitely on my list as well.
Along with, if I can confirm it, a PTM tailgate handle trim. Need to confirm that a 500A Lariat has a manual tailgate release. All I've been able to find a 501a, which is electric.

I really like the idea of painted to match mirror caps. It looks good did you get them from ebay or have it painted? Also how hard was it to pop off the caps. I have heard a few people broke the tabs when removing them.

Definitely keep me posted if you find a part number for the tailgate. I looked quickly and only primed ones I saw were electric release.

Thanks. Yes I got the primered covers from Fairway Ford on ebay and had a local shop paint them. I went the easy way and popped them off which both sides the lower inside clip broke. But I didn't care since I was replacing them.

On my old mirrors I took them apart just to see how hard it would be. Even taking apart that lower inside clip is a real PITA.

very cool build so far, it's fun to see people adding factory options sometimes rather than doing all the same aftermarket stuff as everyone else. I was in a loaner 2016 XLT for 3 months and it had that vinyl wheel, oh man that thing was horrible.
