I've been quiet, I know. Money's been going to other house projects like my new buffalounger (bison leather sectional) and tearing out a wall to put in a bar top, etc.
Welp, had a leak in the rear axle, so had to get all that redone.
Had my e-brake fixed, finally, so now I have a working parking brake.
Also got my IMRC replaced, which was good for me because I didn't want to rip apart the intake manifold myself, and it fixed a lot of the sound issues I was having with the truck not sounding right.
Just went through and replaced the front and rear speakers. There's a marked difference between the OEM speakers and the Rockford Fosgate Punch P1683 3-ways.
I had to turn the treble on the stock head unit way down because the highs were killing my ears, the clarity is absolutely breathtaking compared to the old muddy OEMs.
I used some metra speaker wire adapters for the swap so I wouldn't have to cut and/or solder the ones in the truck... but I ended up having to cut the metra adapters because the negative line had a spade connector that was too small on it. Swapped in four of my own and they slid right onto the Fosgates, no problem.
I also lubricated the tracks on the window lifters while I had the doors apart. I was going to put in some dynamat-like material, but honestly the door already had something similar on it, so I just left it in place.
Next step is to add a new headunit -- the Pioneer AVH-X3800BHS seems to be the best bang for the buck right now. Also wanting to add some wheel well liners to the back.
Got the new 9005 fogs in, re-aimed the fogs to be much lower. Cutoff is at my knees when I'm in front of them, very pronounced, with plenty of flood. The "head on" shots are meant to be dazzling, they're from lower than a car would sit. I made sure that my cutoff for my headlights were at car trunk/car door level, the floods are low and spread.
The LED 9005 bulbs are these ones from ebay. In case that link dies, they're 4400 lumen (total, not really, but that's what they say) 9005 bulbs with no ballast, only a 9005 harness.
Cleaned the MAF and throttle body. Don't know if it's placebo or not, but the throttle definitely felt more responsive when I was ******* it. Unsure why the bottom pictures came out blurry, but I wasn't taking it apart to take more. Seems like this hasn't been done before, there was a lot of crud to blow out.
Also applied from electrical contact saver spray to all the posts and bare metals that have power running through them. I know, ultimately, they're not supposed to corrode, but I just didn't want to take any chances. Seems like cheap insurance.
Also added some seafoam to the gas. I might try doing the drip through the vacuum hose method at a later date.
Installed a set of 4001-XT bull rings that I got from amazon for $16 on a lightning deal a couple days ago. They're really well designed.
No modding required. Sit flush with the bed rails. I even put the seal for my Bakflip tonneau over the top of it using a tiny flathead and very carefully moving it along the top of the bullring panel.
Took some time last night, and some time this morning, to install some Hella Sharptones in addition to my OEM horns. Funny thing is, they are almost note perfect to the OEMs. They're hooked up to all fire at the same time. That should be enough to get anyone's attention.
Also here's a little sound-bite of the OEMs and then the OEMs and Sharptones. It's hard to notice on the video, but there's a definite difference in loudness.
