toys arrived today!

A very much needed radio improvement! While I'm sure it's just me being ridiculous, it even sounds better than the original radio.
(Keep in mind this is a flip project. Aftermarket radios don't really have a strong ROI.)

And the grille overlay!

Can't decide if I totally like it...but it arrived with the tabs broken and Amazon gave me a really nice discount on it, so I will make it work.
I may need to pull the grille off to plastidip the outer edge as well, so there's not the black outline. Going to drive on it a few days and decide.

Today is brought to square pegs in round holes.

We bought out a GMC/Pontiac dealership that was closing down around six years ago. We immediately sold a large amount of the product, but still have quite a few odds and ends laying around.
Prior I mentioned using up a bed mat we had in our warehouse. I picked it up today, despite it having a giant GM logo in the middle of it. Did a little research, it's meant for a short bed GM/Chevy 1500. Picked up some large gray carpet floor mats as well intended for some bulky GM SUV from a prior era. Interestingly both things fit well enough!

Flipped the bed mat upside down so while it looks a little funny, it's better than the big ol' GM logo when you look in the bed.

Going to let the remaining summer sun let the mat conform to the bed before trimming off a few pieces to make it fit perfectly. You can also see how beat up the bed is nbd

And the floor mats! Nothing too special, but feels a lot nicer getting in to it.

That grill looks odd with the black outline. If you plastidip it, what color? White would blend in with the rest of the body, but would some white show through the middle part of the grille? It may look better to white out the grille and toss the chrome insert. I guess they don't make chrome plastidip.

If I used plastidip on the grill it would be just around the outer edges. I wouldn't do the whole thing white, the middle part would still be black.

Been pondering on the next mod to the truck. Thinking of doing tan bumpers and rocker panel stripes.

I think it would do a good job of walking further away from that base model look without having to dump excessive cash on chrome bumpers. I considered doing the bumpers in full white, but I think it's just TOO much white from the pictures I've seen.

Examples of each below. Thoughts? Would love to hear opinions all ways

I've enjoyed seeing what you've done to your truck. I had a 97 that I did basically the same thing to. Had many enjoyable days scrounging in junkyards looking for parts. I think the tan paint would look great. I would paint the grill surround white. The black looks really odd

Thank you much! I do think I'll be painting the edge of the grill white. It looks like it's got a fu manchu mustache with how it is.

Found the camo plasti has a tan shade. Paired with some glossifier, I'd be willing to be it'll look nice. May give it a shot here in a few days!

Very excite! I finally painted the edges of the grill white. It looks much better!

Didn't want to take the chrome back off so tape and covered

Excuse the dirt! Truck doesn't really get a cleaning until it rains

Looks 100x better. To completely get rid of the xl truck look you could change the front bumper to one with fogs and change out the mirrors. But I think the tan two tone would look nice.

Thank you! I'm still debating the two tone. The all white is growing on me. Plus the ease of doing it. I'm up in the air about it.
Interesting you mention the mirrors, just recently I started considering swapping them for another set.
