Welp...the truck has been at the dealership since 8 AM this morning. I took it in because my possible IWE issue was getting worse. I narrowed it down to every time that I would decelerate somewhat quickly from 45 MPH or faster and turned right, I would get a horrible grinding and popping noise. I had to switch to 4A to get it to stop and could then shift back to 2H and it would be fine.

I called at 12 to ask if there was an update. The service person said that they were just waiting on Ford to approve the warranty work. I really didn't expect it to be in there all day, but it is what it is. I'm just hoping that it gets covered under warranty as I've seen other posts where it was considered a wearable item and cost between $500 and $800 to repair.

Annnnnndddd...I literally just got a call from them as I was typing this. She said it was all done and was covered. Now I just have to make sure everything is working right.

Got my first official "warning" from the dealership. They ended up replacing the IWE solenoid on both sides, but the service writer told me that the damage was caused by my level. They claim both solenoids were cracked. They either didn't tell Ford about the level or Ford gave them the go ahead for this one time. I asked to speak to the tech that worked on it because I was/am curious as to how they were sure that the level caused the damage. He had already left for the day by the time I got there to pick up the truck.

Whether the damage was a result of the level or not, I gotta say I appreciate them covering it under warranty at least this time. They could have just as easily told me to pound sand if it truly was because of the level. I don't know enough about the solenoids to know how the level would impact this and cause them to crack.

So now I'm rethinking the whole level thing. I know Bilstein's change the geometry too, so I'm not sure if that would be a fix or not. Short of a full body lift, I'm either stuck with the level or going back to stock tires and removing the level. Or, I'm just being paranoid and I won't ever have a problem again. But the level has only been on for 3,000 miles.

Hey duce, I just read through your build. Respect! I'm looking to do similar mods to my 5.0, but with A/T tires not M/T's and toying with the idea of going with the F150lifts.com coilovers.

Do you have the 3.55 or 3.73 rear end? Have you regained any MPG with the new tune? Big power increase?

Found out that I won't be able to get the dealer to calibrate to the Raptor tire size, so it looks like it's gonna be a tune.

Thanks! The coilovers are probably a good option if you just read the past few posts haha.

I have the 3.55 rear end. The new SCT tuner w/ 5 Star tunes haven't gotten me any better MPG over what I had with the Diablo canned tunes. 13.5 is what I've been at since getting the tires and and a tune. 90% of my driving is above 70 MPH, though. The 5 Star 87 tune is a HUGE improvement over stock and a big improvement over the Diablo canned tunes. I had to drive to the dealership and back today without my tune and I would definitely not go without it. Performance and shifting are huge upgrades with the custom tune.

Remember how we were talking about tuning and warranty earlier when I was on the fence about it? Now imagine you pull an engine code with your tune. They will not do any favours there, and it would be much more pricey.
I've learned from my job that engine type has nothing to do with wether a tune is safe or not. No truck is the same. My manager gets a new truck every 4 months and in that period will always take one very long trip. His last truck had 100kms on it and on this trip it blew. Never had he seen anything like it before. We drive assembly line trucks that aren't put together like Benz's. None of us are safe lol. I'm sure a tune is awesome, and I'd still love one, but far too much is at risk. My speedo etc will also be off but I'm leaving it as is, it's not majorly thrown off so I can put up with it. Any how I'm not bashing your build or anything, you know I love it haha, I'm just saying that levelling is such a common thing so you don't really worry about serious issues, but then you're that one guy that has a problem. That would be me with a tune

Absolutely. I completely agree. And if the service writer would have hit me with a $500 bill today when I went to pick it up, I would have ate it. I would have put up somewhat of a fight and asked for specifics as to why the level caused the problem. I asked those questions, but the service writer obviously doesn't know details and I wasn't going to put up a fight for them covering it under warranty. I accept the risk with all of the mods, but I will surely cringe every time I take it in to get serviced for an issue.

I guess they are risks I'm willing to take until they cause an issue like they are telling me my level is causing. If this would have happened at 30,000 miles, I probably wouldn't have batted an eye. My problem is that I've only had my level on for about 3,000 miles and I'm already seeing issues. If I have to take it in every 3,000 miles to fix an issue, that's when I will start reconsidering my choices.
