Vegas Dezert Fab Pre-runner Bumper Prototype
As promised, here is a little more comprehensive write up on the newest addition to the truck.
Chance Encounter:
I was very lucky to be able to find this company as i had not heard of them before last week. Then i saw a post they made literally 5 minutes after i happened to like their FB page. They were looking for local trucks who wanted prototype pre-runner style bumpers. I figured there was no way they hadn't already had a 09+ F150 but sure enough they emailed me back and we got to work.
Design Concept
Instead of simply browsing through pictures and hoping that my "franken-bumper" idea would turn out good, i took a trip down to the shop to talk design. I had a slight idea of what i wanted in a bumper and had been scared off of a big name bumper producer due to the recent posts about their customer service, wait time, and quality(I think we all know who i mean) So this prototype opportunity was perfect for me. Adem and Austin let me information vomit all the things i wanted to see and would then recommend ways to take that and make it better. They brought up design concepts that i had no idea about. Like using dimple die's for aesthetic reasons but also because it strengthens the bumper. We then started doing laps around the truck and figuring out every minor detail. We talked end caps, push bars, ability to accept lights, color, and angles. It was very exciting to really feel like a VIP being taken around and getting to pick out so many different options.
Build Timeframe and Customer Service
When i got there i was blown away at the level of customer service. Adrian (Adrianlives702) was always a call or text away and always got back to me right away. Adem and Austin, who work at the shop, were always prompt and never missed a meeting. Since this technically was still a prototype build once it was started i didn't see it until it was done. This drove me nuts because im quite a "stickler for details" when it comes to everything on this truck and knowing exactly whats going on. But it was all in good fun and made the reveal that much better. I was told that they would need the truck roughly a week and they were right on target. That includes design, build, and paint. Not only did they paint my bumper but they also painted my grille and all the badges on my truck per my request. In addition i wanted to have my remote reservoirs in front of the tire for a more aggressive look. Also i haven't really seen reservoirs in front on non raptors except for one other truck on here. They did that service at no charge
The Reveal
After just one week it was already time to go back and pick up the truck with NO idea what i was about to see!! Let me just say that my jaw dropped when i walked into the shops bay. I truly feel like it looks amazing, and totally changes the look of my truck. The design elements i had asked for were all used, even the number of bolts and dimple die's were as i had asked for (i really like even numbers lol) Then i started to really notice the paint, it was perfect. They matched my factory paint perfectly and the coat of paint was flawless on the bumper, grille, and all the badges all the way around. I really wish i had of just gone to the shop in the first place before i started painting everything myself because i did a TERRIBLE job haha Last thing i noticed was that for some reason my truck was VERY clean even though i dropped it off filthy. They really blew me away with this, Adem, the owner himself and Austin, the fabricator, washed and detailed my entire truck inside and out. When i asked "why" because i was honestly so impressed by this they told me that there was no way they were going to reveal a dirty truck to me. They even scrubbed the body and LCA's which never usually get washed because they didn't want it to look like just dirty unwashed parts.
The Review
IMHO there is no better company to use for upgrading your truck with any fab work you need. The quality is amazing, the TIG welds are flawless and look like a robot did them. They are great about keeping in contact with you during every step and even after the sale. Below is all the information you could want on the company, the build, and how to get one of these on your truck. Weather the guys over there want to admit it or not I'm an EXTREAMLY curious and demanding customer, but they always exceeding my demands and expectations. I cant give exact numbers for obvious reasons but i can honestly say that even with painting to match the bumper and all the options i asked for this is still more affordable then the lowest costing, unpainted, no options leading competitors bumper. Thank you very much to everyone at Vegas Dezert Fab / Dezert Connection / Full Droop TV in particular Adem, Austin, and Adrian.
Adrian is who anyone looking for quotes or starting their own prototype bumper design should start with. Here is his contact information...
