Dobbern's Retrofit Project
I purchased my F150 October 2013... First thing to go is the AWFUL OEM Ford headlights. I will try to detail out as much information as I go. I know there are a ton of retrofit threads within the forum, but just wanted to share mine as well. I purchased a set of OEM Ford headlights I'm going to tear apart. I have the TRS Bi-xenon Morimoto Mini Stage III Kit (D2S) I will be working with.
-Apollo 3.0 Shrouds
-35 watt DS2 6000k bulbs

Updates
These images are tearing apart the OEM Ford headlights and cutting the reflector bowls to recess the projectors back into the headlight itself. One of the headlights was a complete mess opening up. There was so much black glue from the factory. It took 3 separate 20 mins sessions at 220 degrees to get it opened up (total time 2 hours). The second headlight only took 1 20 mins session and about 1 (35 mins total time).
Cutting the holes was kind of trial by error. A little bit at a time using a dremel tool from existing bulb socket hole. They key was not only the right diameter but also factoring the angle of how projector will sit.
***Advice if possible leave the existing bracket hole/shelf that the original OEM ford reflector piece was attached to. Works great for sight lining the projector, as well as off center, left-to-right alignment.

more image updates
Here are a few more images of updates to fitting the projector. I had to shave portions of the shrouds as well to fit the curves of the reflector bowl. That seemed more time consuming then actually cutting the holes for the projectors.

Paint prep work
Update photos of prep paint work. All chrome was sanded, buffed and then sprayed with Bulldog adhesion promoter. The parts were then painted with paint to match the factory paint of my truck per paint code. After paint dried it was then sprayed with clear coat.

blacked out update
Here a few more updates. aligning the lights was somewhat complicated. The projectors were semi-permanently placed in the reflector bulbs with steel stick. You only have about 6 minutes until is sets. Had to cut out the passenger side and re-align once. I would advise if doing again, have them mounted on the truck first use the steel stick as it's quite moveable and it will save headache. The light output shot on the garage door is from 24 feet away. The projector lenses are completely clean, that's why the dust/bright spots within the light. I will do a OCD clean before sealing them up.
