Different kind of build.

Dad and I are doing it all ourselves and have most of the parts. I'm going to drive it. I currently have a 06' Silverado that's getting long in the tooth. I've always been a GM fan until the buy out. Also I bought the truck new and told myself never again.

Sub'd. We used to do this with cars from a cousin's salvage yard. All the stuff we worked on body wise was fiberglass though. Pretty easy to do if you take your time. That price for resale does sound a little high, but not too bad.

We've had a chance to work on the truck a lot the past few days. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. The past few days we've spent a lot of time replacing hoses and fixing odds and ends. The brake master cylinder was damaged and leaking. Finally we've been putting it back together and the rebuilding phase has started. We welded a straight subframe on. It fits perfect, all the holes line up well. It was just a process of measure, re measure, then measured it again before we cut and adjusted it. The fenders and bumper should be done curing at the paints shop tomorrow. The most expensive things so far have been the headlights and mirror. Wow I couldn't believe it. They are beautiful though. I ordered the Harley lights that are tinted at first but the wiring was different. I really wanted these anyways.
For some reason the plastic inlay that was in the truck was all wadded up. I took it apart and tried to straighten in with a heat gun. There went another $100 bucks. It still looked bad so I had to buy the entire assembly.
I know all the Ford guys in the parts department by first name.

Yeah it would fetch 28-30k if it was a clean title in my opinion. I bought my 2011 used in 2012 with 15k on it for 28.5 or so certified pre owned with a bumper to bumper 70k warranty. My buddy did the same thing with a 12 in 2013. We're all in the dfw as well. (Both fx2s)
Good progress though! Can't wait to see it all back together.

The past few days have been pretty slow. Just waiting on parts and paint to cure. We finally have everything hooked up and working.
I'm trying to decide if I want to run the steps on the side or not. I've haven't really seen anyone without some kind of steps.

The front bumper will be finished getting painted today. Then I'll just need to put it together and mount it up. Everything that we have put on has just bolted right up within limits. We haven't had to adjust anything really.
