After talkin with Kris Graci, I am going to look into also being able to play music from the Pi as well. I will either make a media player to handle usb or bluetooth, or try to tap into the radio and control that.

I've kind of been doing some stuff with this, just preliminary as I don't have a touchscreen yet or anything else, but I do konw that A2DP works great with an android phone to play music over the PI speakers. I've been working on my laptop to get HFP working (not very easy...) so I can use the PI as a hands-free device for my phone, but I would think with just playing audio through it, A2DP and something like
this this
would be great.

Thanks for the input. If I can find a way to adapt the factory AM/FM and Sirius antennas to the Pi, I will.

Hey all, sorry for the lack of work lately. Been busy trying to build a mount/enclosure for everything. It's kind of hard to do development when I don't have everything constantly setup, including working on the Bluetooth/OBDII part. I'm having to put the audio part on hold for now until I can see how "stressed" the Pi is under load from the OBDII reading/monitoring, as there's only so much it can do before it starts to lag.

It's been a long time since I've gotten any good progress on my remote. How about yours? I just picked up a pi 2 last week, and deciding if I need it as a server, or find a home in my truck.
If I did in my truck, I'd probably bluetooth to a phone, and use the phone as a screen. Lots of ideas still rolling around. Just lack the time and funding, like everyone else.

I had to stop due to an issue with getting a screen to my liking mounted, no 3d printer, etc. So, I've been working on other projects until my printer comes. As for using a pi 2 for a server or putting it in your truck, just depends where it'll get more use out of.

I'd be happy to help you set it up if you need any help.

Another 6 month bump vitafortis. :P
Do you know anything about App development? Recently upgraded my system to 54 I/Os but looking at changing to possibly a pi and tablet when I make my new center console. Still want to move up to touchscreen controls instead of just my key fob. :P

Haven't finished soldering all the new connections up, but you can go check out my progress!

Thanks for the bump. Yes, I do, I'm actually a software engineer during the day, so I'm fairly familiar with app development. If you want to work together on something, feel free to PM me or email me at nathan@nmkoester.com.

That's actually looking pretty good! I haven't really posted here lately, but I've been updating the software and stuff on my github, it shows the parts list and stuff I am working on.

Hey all, posting on here again since it's been a while. Lately I've been working on a companion Android App, and looking into writing Android Auto Code, as well as starting on Apple CarPlay support, so no longer need for a secondary screen. The code isn't 100% yet, or anywhere near, but it's getting closer.

Feel free to give feedback or request/suggest features/ideas.

Not sure if this thread still has anyone watching it, but I wanted to mention that it's all done, working on a 3D printed case, have an Android app, and a few other things done with it.
