This way, you end up finding a package on the front porch with no idea what's inside because you can't remember what your ordered. Surprise!
Happens to me frequently. LOL. Coming along nicely BrowningSCrew. Keep up the good work.

A 460 is a much stronger engine than the options available in the trucks stock. There's nothing wrong with it being swapped, just make sure it was done in a safe way. I'm super glad mine was swapped, I just wasn't pleased with how they went about it lol

so other than hacking up the frame what else should I look out for on a 460 swap? Anything in particular or just make sure the PO wasn't an idiot?

That's basically it. Just make sure it's in there solid. Though if it's not too bad it's always fixable. Also look at the cylinder head down by where the exhaust manifolds come out for the casting numbers. If it says D0VE-C you definitely are getting a good motor. Those are the pre-emissions heads for an early 70's engine and have much larger valves than later models. That's what mine has and all I had done was have hardened valve seats put in.

why do some trucks have a fuel cap on the cab right behind the door? I'm looking at a 76 and a 77 that don't have it but some other 76s I like do have it

most of the tanks on these trucks were in the cab behind the seat.......... and some had dual tanks so they were under the bed. my old '78 Ranger had a tank behind the seat and had two under the bed...... it was weird but i think they had just eliminated the vab tank and installed the dual tanks

All actual highboy's 73-77.5 will have an in cab tank due to the narrower frame width. There were some other models that had in cab tanks too, by a for sure highboy will have it. Mine was patched and shaved and I run a rear in frame tank.

so the 76 probably just had it taken out and patched over? Any way to tell if one used to be there? ie anything behind the seat or panel?
