Ive been wanting to do a build thread for a while. just never had the time or motivation. i was just doing little rinky dink stuff here and there, not to worthy of a thread but lately, and in the very near future, ive been doing some more serious stuff. so here we go.

started with a 2013 tuxedo black gen1 Raptor. i had it for 2 years and built the **** out of it. but i was not happy with the 8mpg i was getting. so i traded it in for an ecoboost Mustang, kept that stock for a few years and was happy with 30mpg but had a craving for a truck. 2 trucks later here i am!!

I love the look of the Raptor but my life is not the same as it was years ago. i dont go offroading. i am a busy nurse and real estate agent. my daughter will be born LITERALLY ANY DAY. i would love to have another raptor but it just isnt practical for me. so i got an xlt for $40k and decided to build it. haters gonna hate. but im VERY happy with it.

heres my gen1Raptor build:
Gen1 Raptor build

so first truck i bought was a 2017 xlt 4x4 but it took a dump after 92 miles and 3 days. here it is getting picked up and sent back to the dealer.

so after a few weeks of haggling with tthe dealer, they finally decided to eat the 3k diference between trucks. so my new new truck is a 2017 2.7xlt 4x4 sport with factory nav, panorama moon roof, etc 302a package.

first mod was a 50 inch curved roof bar that i have sense taken off. but for build thread purposes, here it is:

drilled holes into the door and rivited the brackets in place.

i ran the wiring down the drivers side window weatherstripping and covered it with a bead of silicone. then i ran a rocker switch to under the steering wheel on the drivers side. i used a prefabbed harness off of amazon. easy peazy lemon squeezey

second mod was to reuse my old Nitto Trail Graps that were on my raptor until i could decide what wheels i want.

but it immediately rubbed so i threw on a 2.5 inch level that i got from stage3

next was a 50 cal Antenna from Amazon

followed that up with my old Icom F5021 VHF radio so i could have some coms out on the desert.
i installed in on the passengers side of the center console, drilled a whole in the passenger floor, and ran the wiring up to the engine bay.

my girl surprised me with some Husky front and rear liners. i love them. one of my favorite mods yet.

next up was my Anzo Switchbacks with the white and amber led.
removed the factory halogens and didnt try to salvage them in any way because theyre ****. ford should be embaraased of themself still using halogen. anyways, i broke some tabs pulling them out. but here we go!

next up was the Addictive Desert Designs f150 Lite bumper with 20 inch Rigid curved led bar . i drove to Mesa, Az from Indio, Ca about 4 hours to have them install it. they cut off the front crash bars to fit this. i am very happy with it so far.

the next thing was bronze Method Roost 17x8.5 with a 0 offset and 35x12.5x17 Nitto Trail Grapplers to replace my stock wheels and old raptor tires. i got them from custom offsets and they came already mounted and balanced. just had to install them and get an alignment.

well with the 0 offset and 12.5 inch wide tires, it was time to cut the rear crash bars with a torch cutter. thats grandpa. did this at his garage. free mod!!

next up was a Raptor grill with working amber indicator lights. simple install, only took about an hour in my garage.

so after cutting off the rear and front crashbars, and using a 2.5 level, i was STILL rubbing. so now its time to step it up to the McNeils Racing Raptor conversion fiberglass front fenders. i decided to tackle this in my garage and gave myself 2 days but i was able to get both sides done in a little under 6 hours. the first one took 4 hours and the second one took 2 hours. i am very happy with the fitment. i cant say i did a good install because im just an amateur with handtools. but im happy!

next up comes the Raptor tailgate applique. i had to remove the tailgater Ford oval, cut off the tabs because this was made for tailgates that have holes for appliques already, and use alot of double sided mounting tape. but i got it on and im very happy.

next up was a ceramic limo tint all the way around, including the panorama moon roof
first install had a defects in the drivers side front and backseat window. the installer was awesome and brought me in the next day for corrections. front window had air bubbles and rear window film had a bump on it. but after it was fixed, i was VERY HAPPY.

next up was to reuse my old Outlaw Offroad bedcage. the bed bolts in a 13 Raptor are differrent then in a 17 f150 so i had my friend fab me up some custome brackets that extend to the new bed bolt site. now i can carry 2 spares, tool box, gas can, and floor jack again.

next thing i did was upgrade to the 8 inch instrument cluster. i love how the gauges are in full digital and it also adds navigation to the screen so its dead center when youre driving, although i almost always use google maps when using carplay. this is good to have when theres no cell service. overall im very happy with the mod. ClustersbyLivinitup installed it for me in about 5 minutes literally plug and play.

next up in the heated Raptor wheel with plug and play paddle shifter harness from 2016BoostedGrey Goose. Im so happy with how this came out. it was not an easy install(for me) because my hands are too big to reach into small spaces. after removing the shift and cupholder bezel, you had to remove the radio face and cd player, then feed the wires from the shifter are all the way up to the top back of the steering wheel. lots of youtube videos on how to remove interior trim and the steering wheel so i wont bore you. all pics of install belong to 2016BoostedGreyGoose. last pic of wheel and paddles is mine.

MCNEIL RACING BEDSIDES

so today I picked up my truck from McNeil Racing in San Diego. They installed my rear “raptor conversion” bedsides which are a 3 inch bulge. And they mopped up the work on my fronts. I’m very happy. Next up is paint and whee spacers.
