So i didn't get much at all done this weekend. Tried to make my new cheap shocks look badass, by cutting off the metal tube thing and putting a shock boot on... I think it will work. But the stock shock is crap. And i'm not going to waist any money on the shock set up now,for now. I still need to build a new shock mount for the rear.
Got the rear drive shaft all cleaned and new joints put in. And the rear one is fubared. The u joint was like floppy in the yoke of the shaft,I jumped on craigslist and found one. 2 hour drive. So went there and got that, And then left that guys house and drove to my buddys dads house, 4 hour drive...Then about a hour drive home. I ended up giving 40 bucks for 1 shafts. It is perfect for what i need, it allows me to use 1 size u joint. So now i don't have to buy a new rear yoke for the rear end. And the other shaft the kid said he wanted 20 bucks for, So i bought it, Think i can resell it, or trade it to a kid i race with.
I picked up beam type torque wrench(On sale at Autozone 8 bucks) Needed the beam type to set up the rear diff, Click type don't workie for that....
If you ever have the chance to set up a rear differential, Jump off a fuggin cliff. I hate doing that. Hadn't done that in many years. And back then i didn't care i just threw things together and went with it. (Some how it worked) This time i'm doing things like i think it should. And Using a crush sleeve eliminator. So its a little different. Really cocking me over. Bearing puller won't pull the carrier bearings off, So having to heat them up and beating them off (Thats what she said :naughty: ) ... Got all the old crap off and new carrier and gears and whatnot together. I think i got it all shimmed correctly, Ran out of time before work tonight. To throw it together one last time and check it.
Kid i bought the drive shafts off of, Said hes got a 10 bolt front and rear end with lockers, and 4.56's he will sell me for 100 and a windshield for his K5, I've got a stack of windshields. But the axles are located about 4 hours from my house. Probably go pick them up this weekend. If everything looks good i'll probably just throw it under the front. He said everything is new on one side, and the other side was in perfect condition. And the rear axle he busted something. Its a 10 bolt rear, so it will probably just go in the parts pile.. Those 10 bolt rears have 28 spline axles (Usually) and it seems my foot is too heavy for those... Been there , done that... I'd rather not put a 35inch bogger through my new bed side. lol
I'm just rambling on, because i didn't take a single picture.
Also picked up all new wheel studs.
And rear brake lines for the rear axle. Already got all the other new brake line. Picked up a new tubing bender apparatus.

It sucked pp.... First my micrometer battery lid was gone, So i had to have like 45 hands to get the micrometer just to work.. And then trying to keep it on,while measure 34235 shims...Sucked... All the old bearings where roached, onto the carrier, Bearing puller just ripped them to pieces, Finally had to heat them. Busted a bearing installing it.
It wasn't a fun weekend, i'll tell yeah. I live 30 miles from the nearest parts store... So every little parts trip is 2 hours out of the day..... Drive shaft issue was a whole day on the road basically.
