The 2.0s are a huge improvement over stock especially with the addition of LT tires. They are literally perfect on road but I'm looking for more offroad. I want to do a full 2.5 coilover with some deaver springs and remote resi's out back. The 2.0s leave me wanting just that little extra bit on the trail.

Not that anyone seems to care as this thread has kind of gone dark but I'm gonna try and do something that I think will turn out really cool. My buddy and I are going to see if we can fab up a set of custom sidesteps for the truck. I have an idea in my head hopefully they turn out as I envision!

Are these going to be for looks or practical use? (:

Alright, so I didn't get nearly as much done on my little project as I wanted too. Basically I got the brackets for both sides half way made, and one side I have the bar welded on 2 brackets already. I spent half of saturday running around gathering materials, and I didnt do any work on sunday.
I say halfway made because we're mounting into the stock holes in the pinch welds. The stock steps use 4 bolts. right now we have them bent at a 90 degree angle and only attached to the bottom of the pinch welds using 2 bolts. the stock bracket kind of goes around the pinch weld into the top of the rocker. I aim to emulate this to keep the strength. I'm also doing 3 or 4 brackets on each bar to support all the fat chicks i tote around
stock nasty cheap chrome tube steps
No steps on the truck kinda looks really good.
tinkering with a few different looks, i decided I liked the tubes kind of like a diamond.
heres one with the cuts out.... I decided I wanted them in.
about as far as we got.
they will eventually have individual steps for each door coming down and out for each door, and the tool box... so 6 steps total. right now I've just got one rockslider... however when I finish i think they will look sharp. The main fight is getting the brackets finished. That's the most complicated and precise part.

So the steps are 90% done. Only things to do now is grind all the welds down so it looks like they were never there, fabricate the piece of the bracket that will fit vertically in the pinch welds to make them sturdy so they dont flex, sand them down and bedliner them! I probably wont have them finished and on the truck until next weekend hopefully.
They're just tacked up in this picture.
Big thanks to Jake (dude in the pic) for helping me weld them up, and giving me input through the whole process!
all welded up!
