Default 5.4 to 6.4 engine swap

Buddy has a 6.4 (61000 miles) powerstroke motor. It looks like it could fit into the engine compartment... maybe... possibly.... ??? Would prefer a 4.4 but waiting on our courts to settle anything is like watching water boil.

Anyone ever heard of putting this engine into our trucks? Would it fit the tranny? I've never done such a job but Im handy with trucks (especially ours) and really want to run diesel....

If you've seen it in the larger engine compartment of a SD, you'd know that there's almost no way it would fit. It's ridiculously cramped in the SD. No clue about the rest though.

I believe the 6.4 was nicknamed the mechanics nightmare. Very tight squeeze.

Lame...

It does look huge. The 5.4 is OK but is mostly a gas-guzzling dog(and the spark plugs!!!). If Im gonna drive a gas guzzler I want something that's gonna jump when I'm on the throttle and get me up to speed QUICKLY. I don't like to go above 75mph 99.9% of the time.

You guys ever put a diesel into our truck? Any recommendations?

Just my .2 but the 5.4 can be built err rebuilt into a good performer with good torque and HP. It would be far cheaper.
