Definitely. There will be no chrome when I'm finished.

Those roost wheels keep growing on me. I just put 35x12.5r20 bfg on my factory 20's and I wish I would've had 18's...looks great man.

Thanks. I did a lot of looking around before I pulled the trigger. My last car had gold wheels against a metallic gray body, so I had an idea of how it would look. I initially wanted Method NVs, but like you said, these grew on me.

Going from 20" to 18" wheels was a choice driven by looks, functionality, and cost, in approximately that order. I get another inch of curb protection. I DO enjoy going off-road, even if I don't do it as much as I'd like. And the 10-ply LT tires in 18" don't give up much in the way of stiffness coming from the OEM 20". I probably saved $500 for the set by going with 18" instead of 20"; I didn't really compare the cost of the two setups. And IIRC, the 20" Methods weren't available in the offset I wanted. I can use the edge of the tread in the side mirror as a curb guide when backing up, but just barely. It's dead even with the quarter panel, depending on where on the contour you measure.

Question about the antenna - you cut it short. Did you just snip it off? nothing more to it? Did it affect your reception? What's involved in removing/replacing it? (haven't really looked at mine).

At work, my truck fits the garage fine, but the antenna drags across everything, which is really annoying - I think it sticks up about 6" above the cab. I don't like the looks or performance of the little snub antennas, but would like mine to be just about an inch above the cab height (so it doesn't drag normally, but if I get close to something really low hanging, it'll "warn" me )

Thinking about just buying one from the dealer to try it out.

That's why I cut mine. Dremeled 8" off, twisted the ball off the original tip, and reinstalled on the freshly-cut tip. No effect on FM reception. I haven't tried AM reception.

Does anyone still use AM?

ok - so you removed the ball and cut off the top, rather than the bottom, then twisted the ball back on - that makes sense if the ball comes off that easily. I guess you didn't even mess with the bottom where it connects to the truck.

I have no idea what's in an antenna these days, but looks like a small gauge wire wrapped around a thicker post. Wasn't sure if there was some magical connection between those that would be messed up. Thanks for verifying.

We used to hook up lamp cord to a "boom box" antenna or we wired it to a metal pipe in the house as a kid to try to increase reception, so I guess it makes sense that it's not that complicated (Geez that makes me sound old...)

2/26/17
6,476 miles

I changed the BCM parameters in FORScan for:
  • tire pressure to 45 psi (xxxx 2D2D xxxx)
  • speedometer correction for 305/65/18 tires (xxxx 0A21 xx)
  • panic alarm 2-button press
I also messed with auto-fold mirrors again. It's definitely not working for me, even after the calibration procedure.

3/1/2017
6,xxx miles

I updated the speedometer correction factor to xxx 09FA xx. It's a better match for my KO2 305/65/18 tires at 45 psi warm.

Also, I snapped this photo this morning because I hadn't posted one with the grille LEDs on:

At some point in the future, I'm going to get the front bumper and the rear Platinum billboard painted.
