2015 XL Build Up

Thanks man! Spent most of today installing the console...realized halfway through that I needed a floor jack to connect the shifter linkage to the transmission...you can totally see it from under the hood, but too far to reach...so I tucked in the cables for now, also found out that I had to swap out the link connectors for the ones I already had as I don't have the cables for the console ones...think if I ever find a nav head unit, I'll be able to connect them but for now, no biggie. Just have to bolt back in the drivers seat and I'm all set with a brand new center console. It's definitely been a busy day! Going to finish up in the morning and I'll post some photos.

Looking forward to your pictures on the console swap, its something i have been thinking about but wasn't to sure about the whole process myself.

Yeah I really wanted to finish the console, with the shifter, but don't have a floor jack or jack stands to get under the truck and I didn't want to have to deal with any issues coming up out of not having the correct linkage, it's my daily driver, so I'll tackle it next time I see my parents.
To be completely honest, this install was more about figuring out how to disassemble than make it fit. The only, and I do mean only mods I had to do were to the AC vent bezels at the bottom, as the console male ends that connect to the dash were hitting, so popped out the handy dremel and after a few measurements and cuts voila.
Missing a trim piece on both sides, but it's not the end of the world for me.
Know this isn't a full walk through, when I tackle the shifter, I will definitely be doing a whole write up on the project, so stay tuned!

Wag I'm not sure the brackets are the same...I got my console off of ebay for $400, there were 3 or 4 left, just did a search for 2015 F150 OEM Center Console. Definitely more than I wanted to spend, but after looking through all the other console swap walk throughs from previous models I have to say it was super simple. The other piece of it, was the only mod I had to make was to the AC Vent bezels at the bottom, I would assume that the older consoles wouldn't line up correctly...or are you wanting to retrofit a 2015 in an older model?

Thanks Violet! You can do it! It was totally easy, just hotter than hell when I decided to start working!

I haven't personally seen anyone do it yet...but it doesn't mean it's not possible...but my gut says that it would be a major project just due to the fact that you're talking about retrofitting aluminum to steel. And I'm pretty confident it's not a bolt on project.
