Default Simple Daily Driver Build - 2015 F150 Lariat

Hey Guys,

I figured I try and post a bit of a build thread for my 2015 F150, nothing fancy or elaborate, but still fun to see the changes.

I had a 2011 F150 FX4, which I bought new in 2011. I loved this truck to pieces, and had nothing but good experiences. When Ford unveiled the Atlas concept at Detroit in 2013, I knew I was going to buy the new generation F150 if the design was even remotely similar. At the Detroit show in 2014, Ford released the actual newly designed truck and I immediately fell in love. Once the trucks started to arrive in Alberta in December, I went in and traded my beloved 2011 for a new 2015 F150 Lariat Sport FX4.

The Beloved 2011:

Once my new truck arrived, the dealer swapped over my 22" HD wheels as agreed to during the purchase. I knew exactly what the plan was for my new truck, which was basically to create a clone of my 2011. The next morning, the truck was dropped of for a new exhaust - 3" SI/SO SLP Loudmouth capped of with a black 4" MBRP tip.

The plan was always to lower the 2015; however, since it was so new, there was no such thing as a lowering kit. No worries, I just did a bit of researching, guessing, hoping, and fabrication to get it to a stance which I was happy with. Once all said and done, I lowered the truck about 6" in the front, and 5-6" in the back, from the factory height. At this time, the truck had just under 500km on the clock. I also added the stubby antenna and LED fog lights.

Onto the next change. I was never a big fan of chrome for some reason - some people love it, and more power to them, I just don't. It bothered my how the new 2015 had these massive chrome headlights, which just wasn't what I had envisioned when planning my truck. No worries though, a quick call to my buddy Jeremy down at RetroShop, and he said he would fix them for me - definitely unnerving sending down $3000 worth of headlights from a truck that had about 800kms on it. Although I was nervous about something happening to the lights, RetroShop did a perfect job and the lights came out perfect.

Onto the next step. It was time to deal with a few little odds and ends. I had the grille and bumper paint matched, as I really didn't like the grey pieces. Then off it went to have the windows tinted, tail lights and 3rd brake light tinted, and all the emblems redone to match the previous generation's "Appearance Package"

So far I'm very pleased with the truck; however, it only has about 1500km on it. I'm still awaiting the arrival of my 24" wheels which will help cap off the vision I had planned. I never had planned anything wild for this truck, as this is simply just my year round daily driver - I have two bagged and body dropped Rangers which are actual projects. I'll continue to update this as changes occur - especially once the wheels arrive.

I have never been a fan of lowered trucks but I kinda dig yours. Maybe it's the new body style and this being the first one I've seen lowered but I like it!
