I was wondering the same thing about the overload spring. If I remember correctly, the raptor uses the same springs as the regular f150 they just remove the overload spring. Sounds like an easy way to soften up the rear for someone like me who doesn't tow?

Raptor leaf springs are not the same as non Raptors for the same cab config. I.E. Raptor SCAB uses non-Raptor Reg cab pack. Raptor SCREW uses Non-Raptor SCAB pack. That's why the payload and tow ratings are so low.

I'm on my phone or I'd post it. IIRC it's in the F150 Body Builders Layout Book (BBLB). Look towards the back (search by year), they have spring rates for all F150 variants.

Thanks for the quick and accurate response man. So would removing the overload spring from a non raptor f150 soften the ride at all? Obviously a good shock will help a ton but still curious...

Edit: would the truck lose any rear ride height with the overload spring removed other than the obvious thickness of the leaf?

It 'should' soften the ride but I can't speak to ride height. I will say that, on a Raptor anyway, the factory leaf pack is absolutely the weakest link on the truck.

I have heard that before. People say a set of deavers or a quality rear pack and good shock help tremendously. Back to the original question about removing the overload spring. I think you should do it OP bc I would love to know the difference. A before and after rear ride height measurement and rear ride quality comparison would be awesome.

It would only drop it the thickness of the spring. I think you should do it first and let me know how it goes . The AAL should give me about 500lbs more capacity from what I've read about them so that's maybe the reason it wasn't doing a whole lot.

Maybe I'll remove the overload when I do my level and shocks. It would be nice to soften the rear until I save up enough to go big. Long term goal is deavers with an Icon stage 5.

I was looking at a Deaver Mini pack that keeps the two oem leafs but replaces the overload and blocks. I hear good thing about Icon and so far I'm loving my fox set up not that they're back to a normal level.

My fleet company came in and recommended to roll over my truck for the lease for a new truck. So after some looking and reading about different trucks I'll be making the switch to a Dodge rebel truck. I can't do what I did to this truck so it has to stay mainly stock. The F150 is nice but doesn't have that aggressive look and the Raptor is too much for doing 20,000 miles a year plus driving in Philly. I should be ordering the truck next week and it will take about 6 months to come in so I'll still have this one for now. If anyone is interested it will be for sale as it gets closer for the new one to come in.

The rebel will be fully loaded and the ram box should be a little easier for getting to the tools.
