well, for starters,
when the truck was "finished", i drove it home at 2:30 in the morning, so excited to get home to my family, and take my daughter to music class the next morning in the new truck!.( it had been 4 months of build time for an interior cage and rear suspension). . well, i made it about 50 miles up the coast to the blackest no-mns-land of camp Pendleton, and the transmission started to over heat, then the wrench popped up. i had no tools on me (STUPID *****$ ME) AND a locked up back. i had pulled my entire back riding a horse and could hardly stand up straight. more on that later...
apparently the McNeil fab shop hooked up the lines backwards, and the fluid wasn't circulating. when I finally reached the first available exit, the thing was in protection mode and not working. got to the parking lot of a gas station and reverse wouldn't work. it was clunking.
i got the truck back to the shop via tow truck and the rear end was destroyed from the suspension kicking the pinion angle up too high, and the McNeils refused to admit failure, yet replaced the 3rd link and corrected the pinion angle.
the transmission was now also needing a rebuild from overheating. around the time of my last post, the trans stopped shifting past 3rd and i had it towed to Leons again, intending on a full rebuild. The Mcneils claimed they couldn't afford it, and wanted to have their guy warranty his work. Back to mexico on the trailer. so now after 3 rebuilds, jan2nd, i hire WOG to pick it up at the mcNails and fix the rear end. a 3 day job. They were also going to install new EFR turbos and brakes, and the full-race radiator. So, after 6 weeks they returned the truck. and although all the rear end parts were new and beefy yukon gear products, they had had RPG do the setup on the ring and pinion, and not correctly. it was howling so bad you couldn't hear other people talking in the truck. same as before they picked it up. The radiator and fuel pump had not been touched. they did do the turbos ad the brakes, and sent me a $3400 bill. as far as the rear end, they said they'd warranty the work, but at this point, my patience with amatuers "warranting" their work was wearing thin. SO- I
finally had it towed it to ventura 4x4, where a super talented fella named Ruben fixed the rear end with yet another brand new set of rear gears and bearings- in half a day!! he said the rear end was setup completely wrong, tons of slack in the center section and the pumpkin was drifting side to side with each turn, causing axle bearing failure. He showed me the uneven wear on the ring gear, and how marred and pitted it was from 323 miles of driving. So, with a fresh second set of yukon gears and much help and props to my man Chris at Yukon, as well as the amazingly talented Ruben. I drove it away, completely quiet and smooth. YAY!!!!!!
and in 1/4 mile, the "freshly McNeil rebuilt transmission" threw a wrench code P0770, a bad shifting solenoid. so on a rainy valentines day, i had it towed to my friends shop in Newbury Park, Ca. where they prep the class 1 race buggy, and camera crane vehicles, and all their personal raptors. as of friday feb 17, we think we may have fixed the transmission by bleeding the lines, removing the inline filters, and are hoping that on monday (tomorrow, Presidents day) the thing will work correctly. But its intermittent. sometimes it throws the code P0770 and wont shift correctly or pass 3rd, and sometimes it works just fine. so, to answer some of the comments- this has turned from fun to an all out depressing bank draining constant problem and i have yet to actually drive the thing since August 16th. stoked

just read a post on raptor forum, and apparently the p0770 code is a TSB recall on the wiring harness for pre 2012 transmissions. so, after all this ****, its my wiring harness....ugh. and do ya think they'll warantee it?! bwahahahahaaaaaa

I hate that you are having issues, esp given the amount of time and $ invested.
Stay positive, this thing is going to be a BLAST once all the kinks are worked out.
