Mine has a capped plug on the backside of the drivers side turbo tube on my afe intake. Evidently yours is the same setup. You should paint the banks letters on the intake. Everywhere on the internet shows it painted and it looks pretty good.

Local Ford line worker told me this:
5/12 build would be a '13' model year...... Model year is around March.

Odd, the title and VIN relates my truck as a 2012

I'd really like to find out what turbos they installed in my truck too

2011-2012= 48 mm
2013-2014= 51 mm

Any markings or numbers on the turbos?

I don't know about that model year info, mine is a 6/12 manufacture date and is a 2012 as far as I know.

Also, if you are atill looking for Raptor wheels here is a guy selling 5 for $100 each from the F1•12th Gen facebook group.

I'm going to say 2012....although I'm still learning these trucks. I think the PO just upgraded the exterior pieces, since they make a visual impact, and are easy(ish) to change out. I've come to notice that the center dash for the climate and radio is that of a 2012. In 2013, at least in all the other ones I've seen have the 4 round ***** that are larger...whereas ours has the temp adjust as buttons......which would be less likely to be changed out.

2013

2012

I have the exact same truck (only 5.5' bed)

Changing out exterior parts is understandable......but how does one explain under hood subtleties?

Well, it was built a little later in the year...and since technically the under the hood stuff didn't really change, it is conceivable they received their new batch of parts and put them on. That also means there is a chance that you have the larger turbos.

It's also possible the po had done some mods under the hood(similar to you) and never kept his stock parts....only to sell/trade the aftermarket stuff off to someone before trading it in/returning the lease....and that person had a 2013-2014 model.

I would be curious on the turbos as well...but I'd venture to guess it will all be 2012 stuff as far as "internals" under the hood are concerned.

If you don't mind me asking, I can't tell from the picture or not, but do you have aftermarket GPS software installed, or is that the stock software with a different view setting? I would like to update mine to have a topographical 3D GPS system, but I don't want to have to replace the whole screen etc., just the software, if that's possible.

I've heard that the larger turbos/wastegate will have thud noise shortly after startup

The smaller turbos will not have this noise

Any truth to this?
