Default 2011 Black on Black on Black on Black...

Hey

New to the forum, not new to the forum life though. They are invaluable! I bought a new to me 2011 f150 FX4 5.0 back in March, I knew I didn't like a few things about it but it was too good of a deal to pass up so here is my "build" thread.

Came with:

20" Chrome Navigator wheels? (I think?)
Roush Cold air Intake
Magnaflow Muffler
Roush rear exit tip
Flush tonneau cover
All the bells and whistles minus Nav.
WeatherTech Digital fit floor mats (a must)

When I picked it up:

I drove the truck around like this for a few months deciding what I liked about it and what I didn't like. First to go were the ugly FX4 stickers, I like the stickers as they break up the bed but I don't like this particular style, I have ordered matte black replacements in a different font. They are enroute.

No decals:

I knew right away the chrome had to go but I liked the size and style of the wheel, which lead me into the wonderful world of PlastiDip which lead me further down the path into black on black on black on black lol

After PlastiDip:

I also plan to dip the fender badges and place a red sticker inlay similar to the newer badges. Those are enroute as well with pics to come.

After that I did something most FX4/4x4 owners would think is blasphemy. I lowered the rear end to match the front. Keep in mind I have very little cash flow as an unforeseen circumstance has put me in a tight situation for the next while. I had a friend remove the rear lift blocks:

I absolutely love it. We're pretty much caught up to this point until I get my decals and my exhaust turned to a 90 to a side exit this week. I will post pics before and after.

Don't hate on me too much! I know I should have bought an FX2 but I still need 4 wheel drive for the Canadian winters.

Its a sleeper...

I see many lifts and mud tires around town here, and almost none see offroad at all...

That was my thing, I knew it wouldn't be offroaded and I always liked the sport truck style but hated the 2wd agony in the snow with my old Ranger.

Thanks!

Sub'd

Im intrigued. I am one of those that would never lower a 4x4/FX4 but I am curious to see how things turn out. Clean look though for sure!

It turned out good, no vibes, no ride difference, it's 1.25 inches lower by removing the rear helper blocks.

I went to take it over to have the tip rerouted to a side exit and he said he couldn't do it The 3" pipe and the size of the tip left no room to make a 90 degree between the spare tire and the side of the box. It would have stuck out too far and looked goofy. Big bummer.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a stock tail pipe and get a nice flat black tip from MBRP when funds permit. I'm sure someone would be interested in the Roush tip plus cash on trade maybe!

A few little updates...

I plasti dipped my badges black and purchased some ebay stickers to make them look like the updated red badges, looks much much better.

I also added .25" wheel spacers just to bring the rears out a bit, not something anyone else would notice but I couldn't stand the sucked in look.

And lastly my most prized upgrade, my Raptor knock off clearance lights. I purchased the LED's from Princess Auto (Harbour Freight equivalent) and made up a simple light bar that attaches behind the grill with zip ties. I had my mechanic friend wire them up to the park lights.

also.. I found a watch that the face matches the gauges in the truck. I had to have it.

Looks good. I would invest in some black lug nuts. And there is a guy on ebay down in California I think. He does custom ford badges in different colours. I ordered mine black with silver "ford" lettering.
