Default 2014 Project Eco-XLT

I just bought a 2014 EcoBoost a few weeks ago on eBay. XLT 302A with leather & buckets, 5k miles & got a smokin' deal from a dealer in Texas.

I was going to go conservative & add a leveling coilover & a tuner, but I wanted more clearance & couldn't fit 35's with the Fox Stage 1. I looked at the Icon Stage 2, but got talked out of it due to the stiff springs & valving.

Then, it was like eff it! I can get clearance, high quality parts, a smooth ride, & a free 5/60 drive-train warranty for just a little more, all while getting real close to the dream truck I was tired of dreaming about since I was a kid.

So, I got a BDS 6" Fox coilover, Toyo R/T 35x13.5's on Fuel Hostage 20x10 -12's, a Livewire tuner with 5 Star tunes, Prestige Spectra PhotoSync tint, drop in K&N, & the perimeter alarm add-on with long range remote start. Aaaand, now I'm broke, lol. jk

Here she is on day one:

I ordered the tuner & K&N from Stage3, & the lift/wheels from Industrial Motoring in Anaheim. I got a flippin' killer deal! I got the hookups there now so feel free to PM for details.

Now for the hard part...waiting! Called around yesterday & my local off road shop had the best price. They said a couple days available next week. Called today to schedule & they're booked until 6/2, but not sure if that weeks going to work for me! That went fast.

Now I cringe every time I have to go in the garage. On the other hand, it's got that awesome new tire smell in there now

Oh ya, my mission was to preserve the factory drivetrain warranty as much as possible, or at least get something else to cover it. I also figured I'd share the research I did on these parts:

- K&N drop-in: OEM replacement, no probs.

- BDS: Ford excludes problems related to the lifts, but BDS includes 5/60 on all their lifts for
anything the dealer doesn't cover. BDS also has a "no hassle" warranty if any part of the kit
ever breaks

- Tuner: Ford doesn't like. SCT offers a 5/60 or 5/100 drivetrain, but 5 Star is fairly conservative
while still adding monster torque & firming up the factory shift points. I didn't opt for the
coverage, but I've heard at least 1 or 2 local Ford dealers are cool about it. Still, I plan to
remove & flash when I bring it in. They can still check PCM logs if they really wanted to

- Free lifetime tunes: As many tunes as I want from 5 Star, but have to buy future tune-affecting
stuff from Stage3. I'm holding off on initial tuner install until the lift/wheels are on

- PhotoSync tint: High end & way up there for blocking IR, UV, etc. Pretty spendy, but
Fellow Arizonan's will understand. Be careful with tint % though. My back windows are
practically black now due to the worthless factory tinted glass

- Windshield tint: As in, the entire thing. Technically illegal, but you can't even see it & it keeps
the interior cool(er) during our 9 month summer. Was like 60% = practically clear film

- Perimeter alarm: OEM add-on. Back away from my truck, lol

- Long range start: OEM add-on. The opportunity to have the AC on while I melt on my way to
my truck... priceless!

- Wheels: The 20x10 -12's have 5" backspace & 35's shouldn't require trimming. I don't think the
13.5" width is going to be a prob. Just hope they don't stick out too crazy

- Toyo's: RT's are between AT & MT. They have a 45k PRORATED treadlife warranty & a "love em
or leave em" 45day/500 mile warranty. In my case I'd have to ship them back to Anaheim

BTW, I don't think any of the 3rd party warranties for these particular items are transferable

Hope someone finds this info useful...

Scored these brand new Raptor running boards for $300. Those chrome OEM's weren't going to look right with black 20's. They stick out quite a bit, but figured it'll work well with the 13.50's.
