2003 Fx4 Dual Purpose Build
Commence the build. My first truck was a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT FX4. Loved that thing and I put LOTS of time and money into it. Unfortunately, my brother wrecked our Honda Pilot in Jan of 2016. Twice actually, and totaled it the second time.
So with insurance money in hand we checked out a few rigs and settled on this beauty (my truck went to my little brother). Purchased on Jan 30th 2016. $10k and 110533.9 miles.
Stats
2003 Ford F-150 Scab Lariat FX4

Now concerning the modification list; it will not be on any time schedule as I am going to college, on a budget. So, as the money comes things will get done. My first and foremost concern is keeping the truck in the immaculate condition it is in and preserving it. With that being said I would LOVE to turn the truck into a monster (6" lift wheels tire toolbox the works) BUT it will be a college vehicle. Maybe sometime down the road but not at the moment. My goal right now is to turn it into a college commuter truck (Brookings,SD to Omaha,NE) and a Hunting/Fishing/Camping rig, a Dual Purpose Rig. It won't be getting wheeled hard (for now) as I want to keep the paint job looking nice.

•Seal up the one patch of rust

•Maintenance & Stuff I think of later
First I drove it home from the dealership, then it sat for the weekend. Go to start it up, couple days later and it's pulling 4 codes. Take it into the shop and it had one bad coil and a bad case of coolant issues. With new coils new plugs and thermostat(which was fine as this is your typical 'tune up' stuff) I left the shop to just have it over heat once more. Take it back and they super flush it out just to find a pin hole in the radiator... Lucky for me, my buddy swapped in one from his parts truck for nothing. He also back flushed the heater core to only get about 5 gallons full of thick black sludge. Finally ended up drilling a pilot hole in the thermostat and that fixed the overheating issue.
I threw some floor mats in and pulled out the ugly trailer brake controller.
Next I put my Scan Gauge 2 in its place to monitor my temp mainly and mileage.
Also picked up a SCTx3 for CHEAP. Talked to Don @ Lasota racing to get some custom tunes made up for it. Biggest difference I saw was in shift points and MPG's.
Next was the Flowmaster 40 SI/SI. Sounds really good and not loud. Perfect for my application as this truck will be a highway vehicle.
And a MBRP 4" tip.
20% Tint all around now minus the windshield.
As for mods I do have my list but I'm sure I will be adding and subtracting to/from it. Just going to roll with it and have fun.
Lots of pics to come because well, pics are king around here.
