Cool 2001 XLT "Doris"

What's up guys. Figured it was time to make a build thread for myself. I haven't taken a ton of detailed pictures along the way, but I can give you the information I have off the top of my head and whatever pictures I have saved. So here it is.

-2001 F150 XLT, named "Doris" after my late grandmother, whose late husband (my grandfather, if you're slow) owned it before me; no matter what I do to the truck, nor whose name is on the title and registration, it will always be his truck. I'll put it to you another way... if I end up losing it all, the only things I'll have left are the clothes I'd be wearing and that truck. I'd sooner go homeless. That's what the truck means to me. If I wreck it (God help me if that ever happens), I'll fix it. If it can't be fixed... then it'll be a lawn ornament. I'm not giving up that truck.

Ok. Back on topic.

-Stock rims/tires (formerly had 22s with 33s, now they're for sale); looking for something more appropriate for my truck once finances are regulated.
-$1.8k worth of emergency lighting, installed as a nod to my grandfather. Founding, charter, and to date, the oldest member of the Sergeantsville Volunteer Fire Company, holding Badge #1.
-In the process of doing a complete LED conversion. Just a few interior pieces to do and I'm done.
-Painted grille black in preparation for raptor-style F150 overlay.
-Mild audio upgrade.
--Power Acoustik Inteq 2DIN headunit
--Kicker KS68 door speakers (to be amplified by a JL JX360/4 in the near future)
--2x (soon to be 4x) 12" Kicker L7s, powered by a...
--Hifonics Brutus BRZ2100.1D
-****ton of rear window decals
-K&N CAI (TBS to be installed)
-Rear seating is 99% removed. Just got one stubborn bolt and the passenger seat belt to take out. I'll show you a picture of the bolt and what we tried to do to get it out in a bit.

Now, for the "want to do" list...

-Flush power steering, radiator, etc (unsure of what my grandfather did while he had it, so it's a preventative measure if nothing else)
-Spot lights behind grille (debating on this due to desire to install raptor style overlay and the emergency lights... unsure how that would work. Must do homework)
-Install Recon LED bars on steps
-New taillights
-Change all plugs and inspect coils
-Backup camera
-Install Recon projector reverse lights
-Install throttle body spacer
-Clean/inspect TB/EGR/Evaporator
-Upgrade interior completely to LEDs (including dash, air controls, etc; 6/9/13: door lights converted)
-Repaint truck (high amount of scratches of varying lengths and intensities, a few minor rust spots, weather channels on roof are SHOT, etc)
-Upgrade to e-fans
-Investigate into the possibility of a manual trans conversion
-Build custom box for four 12" Kicker L7s
-Paint various parts of the interior
-Recon smoked cab lights
-New bed liner
-Programmer
-TV tuner for HU
-Retrofit projectors into headlights w/ 6k HIDs & halos (undecided on white or amber)
-New hood (purely for looks... undecided as to which kind, opinions are welcome)
-Inspect basically everything (hoses, wires, suspension components, etc.)
-Amplify door speakers
-Puddle lights
-New mirrors w/ LED blinkers (or install some kind of blinker in existing mirrors)
-Install higher-amp alternator sitting in closet
-Big 3 upgrade
-Zip tie mod
-Fog light with parking lights mod
-Disable low beam flash w/ door lock
-Look into LED bar-type things for fogs?
-3.73 gears
-Marine speakers mounted in tool box

I shall post pictures after I tinkle.

Indeed. Needs pictures. Here you go.

As she sat in my grandfather's driveway, shortly after he passed.

Next to Camille, my Challenger... I miss her.

First round of new headlights/fogs... they didn't last long.

First round of HIDs, with switchbacks...

LED 3rd brake light, ended up crapping out.

New one...

Gave a tailgate LED bar a try... got all condensated within 3 weeks...

With my buddy's NSRT4... Had the 22s on at that point.

And, of course, because she's a 5.4, one of the plugs decided to eject while I was on the highway. AAA is amazing.

Starting to get crowded...

The current LED tailgate lighting. Tailgate's on currently.

Some more...

Sponsor sticker...

After the Force II was installed...

Photoshoot w/ sponsor in NY... lots of good shots up there. I liked the ones from the first picture's scenery the best.

4WD and E-Brake was tested here. They passed.

Tried to do some eyelids... Didn't come out like I wanted... oh well. I want to get lightning heads anyways.

AHHHH!

Painted grille. First true attempt at using a spray can on anything. I don't think it came out too bad.

"Raptor" lights...

The bolt. The thing wouldn't come out... ended up snapping one of the torx bits. After other methods of trying to get it out, we ended up trying to weld the torx bit to the bold, then take it out... didn't work. Still gotta get it out.

Checking in...?

And the emergency lighting. Figured a walkaround was better than a bunch of pictures.

Plexiglass variant? What makes you say that?
