Default shocks came in

Alright, tired of always working on rust, so playing with my new shocks that came in. I got a set of KYB monomax shocks. Just put the backs in for now.

Default testing of nerf bar fitment

Well, along the lines of the last post, and wanting to work with new parts, I thought I would see how the new nerf bars would look, and feel. By feel, I mean would they sag from mounting on the poor metal of the inner rockers. Of course they sag, as the factory boards did. Don't know if it shows in the first pic, or not. Second pic, there was no sagging, well there was a floor jack up under it, but... Now I got the measurements to add a few pieces welded to the nerf bar mounting bracket and bolted to the frame as a stiffner. The other side should about the same, I will jack them up level, drill the holes in the frame, mount a flat plate to it, and tack the other pieces together, before a final welding. Working on topside rust repair in bed, also.

Default working on rust

Been working on the bed, somehow can't find the pics I took, but took off bed sides, and fixed rust inside bed, and put one coat of kbs coating all over bed so far. Attempted to fix tailgate, I am going to call it too far gone and get another, again my pic is bad, only side view. Moved on to passenger side front door, needed to cut most of the bottom of the door, and part of the outside, got the outside piece replaced, and will coat the inside next, and then finish up putting the new piece on the inside bottom, after that. Slow working on rust, along with holidays.

Default picked up a Texax tailgate

Picked up a Texas tailgate off Craigslist, very nice shape. Now I see why so many people talk about getting vehicles to work on from down south. No rust! Hopefully have in primer soon, and get some paint on it, and the bed, and bed sides, then finish off with spray bedliner, and consider the back half done.

Default exhaust manifolds

Ok, kinda cold in garage lately, here in Michigan, so decided not to paint, so went to work replacing the exhaust manifolds. Started on right side, it was cracked, and had 1 broken back bolt. Don't know if the crack can be seen in the pic. Got it cut off after an hour of cutting, and grinding. Sprayed all the studs with penetrating oil, and that is enough for today. Slowly goes it.

Default continued manifold repair

Well, I got 5 out of 8 bolts out with heat and vice grips. Tried welding nuts on the remaining 3, got 1 more out. Looks like I will be drilling 2 out. I sprayed them down some more to let soak in, and give one last try before drilling out in a couple days. Got all but the back two. Made a run and picked up a new tool, a right angle air drill. Already have center drills, carbide bits, and drills, and the final tap and drill bit if needed. Most people say this is the hard side to do, I hope so.

Default header fun

Ok, got the two bolts drilled out, and started putting the header on, went about like any other header I ever did go, slow. Got 7 of the 8 nuts on the studs before I gave up for the night. Looking like I will have to remove the tranny dipstick to get the last one hidden behind the pipe on the left that snakes up, and back. Shouldn't have any more rust with this. I can't say this has been terrible to do, got everything from wheelwell, with wheel on, and never went underneath on this side.
