When ready for a new tune I would suggest JJ @ Woodbine Motorsports! He knows his **** about Ls and L powered trucks!

Default 01 Supercharged Screw Build

Thanks Z7what, do you know the newest tuner that will work with my truck? I'm thinking once the odometer rolls over 300,000 I'm got to rebuild it, is there a Lightning package I can rebuild a stock 5.4L with? So I can run new boost with the new motor?

A SCT X1, 2, 3, or 4 will work. But chances are the X3 and X4 will be the easiest to fine. There may be L Kit but many people build using different parts. Need to start looking into your goals and budget first. Are you doing all this yourself? If so building you block may be cheaper. If having to pay someone to do it, it may be cheaper to just buy a short block. Ford Racing sells a GT500 5.4L short block that can handle 800hp IIRC that will work in the L. All you need it a $15 tube that Ford sells for the back of the water pump and it will work!

Start checking out the L boards people sell stuff all the time.

I'd be doing it with my dad, so that's good to know. Thanks again! Can JJ @ Woodbine do the tuning by data logging/email? Also I've been entertaining the idea of changing out the camshafts, did you ever do such a thing? Also checking some more things out today, looks like it has the stock Ford MAF don't know if that's a problem or not... Seems to run just fine with it and it would have been tuned with the stock maf

Well while I was driving yesterday my truck seemed to miss under acceleration, and it sounds like one of the pulleys need to be replaced, I'll be taking a closer look at that stuff today when I install my raptor lights.

Got my raptor lights installed, pretty cool fairly cheap mod. I used an old piece of metal I found lying around the farm, mounted the lights about 4" apart and then mounted it in the centre of the grill.

Yes JJ can do mail order tuning. I haven't personally changed cams but it can be done. BTW the Lightning/Harley cam is the same as what you have. Most cams give you higher RPM power so depending where you want the power at will determine if you should swap cams out or not.

Make sure it has a 90MM MAF off and 01-04 Lightning or 02-03 Harley. If going with a bigger than 4# lower you will need a Mafia MAF Extender or SCT MAF. Regardless which you go with if you currently have a 80MM and switch to a 90MM you will need a new tune.
