I'm not sure as I've never tried to paint chrome. I've heard it's more difficult, though. I don't think you'd be able to rough up the chrome enough for the paint to stick permanently. If it were me I'd spend a few bucks and take them to a powder coater for them to sandblast the chrome off. Then paint them.

The real key is prep---it should take the longest. If you skimp out on prep work it will show.

I actually had mine sitting out back in the elements for several months after I got aftermarket wheels and tires. I never attempted to sell them because I was too busy, so I ended up just taking them to the recycling center and leaving them out for anyone to pick up. They were dirty from sitting outside, but I cleaned a small section and it looked fine.

recycled?!?! I would've bought them!!!

I like the idea of painting my wheels my self. I have a 2001 with wheels off of a 2000 f150 sport kinda like the king ranch so i was thinking painting them would look good. Any comments? or has anyone done this to these wheels?

I would have given them away for shipping costs. We just had maintenance come around and they slapped a paper on our door warning us that they would fine us if we left all our crap behind the apartment. Had nowhere else to store them.

Hey I followed your instructions and it worked out great. The only thing I did different was take the center caps off and sprayed them seperately. Great tutorial though, convinced me to join the forum, thanks!
