Just replaced my lower ball joints this weekend. Really appreciate the write up. I also watched the YouTube video by FordMacoLoco. Excellent 45 minute instruction and worth the time. I bought the NAPA Chassis ball joints ($60 each) which included the bedding compound, a Loctite 609 equivalent. I mention this because Loctite 609 is hard to find locally. NAPA also loan the press. The NAPA Chassis ball joints were 0.005" oversize but they pressed into the bore without issue. The job was pretty straightforward and the only issue was raising the knuckle back on the lower ball joint and getting the nut back on without help! I've noticed two improvements since the new ball joints went in; no more clunking when I drive over bumps, and there used to be a noticeable thunk when accelerating from a full stop. I thought it had something to do with a looseness in the drivetrain but it's gone now so it must have been the old ball joints talking to me.
