Good to go, glad you got it figured out. I just installed the rears on my truck yesterday. They are so much easier than the fronts! Now I am doing my research for next suspension mod- add-a-leaf, RAS, or helper spring- to keep level with weight in the back. With my front 5100s set on 1.5", and weight in the back- topper ~300lbs (year round), 160lbs of traction sand-bags, chains and other winter gear I am slightly nose high.

First, thanks to all for the informative how to!

I'm currently waiting on my front Bilsteins. I want to raise the front to compensate for the 3/4" rear lift I got as a result of the RAS. I installed the RAS to keep the rear from sagging when towing a boat (750lb tongue weight).

For drift boater, I can definitely say the RAS will help you achieve your level stance, and keep it that way when adding more weight in the bed. I've also installed rear Bilstein 5100s. The combination results in a much improved ride over rough roads, which used to make the rear of the truck walk around a bit with no load. It feels firmer, but not rigid like a super duty.

Great writeup! Planning on doing my fronts this summer and have a question. How are you guys torquing the LCA to Shock bolt and the LCA mounting bolts? I can't figure getting 400 lb-ft in any controlled manner other than hitting it with the impact and leaving it at that. But being a suspension bolt I want to make sure it's in there good.

These bolts, especially the LCA/frame bolts, are a PITA to torque because it is difficult to get solid leverage unless the truck is on a lift. At the time I installed mine, I did not have an impact wrench. I torqued the lower shock bolts at the highest setting- 250ftlbs- on the wrench I had, then used a breaker bar and got another 1/4 or so turn on it. If I had the impact wrench I have now, I would have set at 400ftlbs then probably used a breaker bar to see if it budged.

Since my torque wrench maxed at 250ftlbs, this was good enough for the LCA/frame bolts. Good luck.

Thanks.

The more I think about it, I think it may be a hair easier than I thought. I plan on getting the HF Earthquake impact as the one I have is only 250 ft-lbs. I figure I can snug with it on a lower setting and then use a 2x4 to support the breaker. Careful placement of my 245lb body on it should get me there. I figure 20 inches out and I'm golden.

Default Bilstein Fronts Install Correctly?

This is what the tops of my front 5100s look like. I don't remember being able to see the yellow boot before, and was wondering if the shop guy forgot to re-use
all of the required parts?
