So I just lock it from outside the truck, and then wait for the chirp then press unlock twice?

Just did this on my 04 and it worked great, but it isn't with my keypad it was with the door switch. And my fog lights were still doin it but found out that the fog lights setting should be turned off while not in the truck until it's running and turn them off before leaving the truck

Has anyone looked into this any further than the key/lock cycle? There must be a trigger that tells the lights to come on when the doors are unlocked with the fob right?
So if you had halo's with your HID's could you wire the halo's to come on as the perimeter lighting and then the HID's would only come on with the headlight switch?
I'm looking into doing a retro fit and if you could move the perimeter lighting to trigger some halo's and not the HID's I'd probably add the halo's to the order.
Time to find some wire diagrams....

I had to do this to my truck. I had HIDs in my headslights for almost a year and then all of a sudden my passenger side ballast went out. I didnt think it was too big of a deal until it kept going out after I put in new ones. I went through 4 ballast in 2 weeks. I did this trick and I'm fine since then. Not sure what caused it randomly.

I don't have HID's yet but was never a big fan of my headlights coming on when I unlocked so I just did this in all of a minute (as in time it took me to walk out to my truck, perform disabling, and walk back inside). Now I'm just waiting for nightfall to see what it looks like now!
Thanks for the simple write-up (cuz I'm too lazy to look in the manual).

Worked great for me. Took one try. Just make sure to do it fast and you use the unlock button on the inside of your driver door by your window buttons, not the keypad on the outside or the remote for the alarm

Please see my post from March-April 2011. The dealer has to use the IDS diagnostic tool and put the truck temporarily into police mode to disable the perimeter lighting. Only takes a few minutes.
