Finally got a chance to run mount and hook up my CB. Thanks to this guide, everything went pretty smoothly. I am running a Wilson 5000, which I wired in through the third brake light, across the headliner, down the drivers side a pillar, across and inside the dash above the cluster, and into the rear of the CB. Only issue I am having right now is where to mount the mic, right now it's just sitting on the center console.

overall it looks like you did a good job but there are a few issues that come to mind right away. first you have the fuse right behind the cb, you really should move it as close to the battery as possible or you have essentially an unfused circuit. second, you should really invest the few dollars for heat shrink butt connectors, they are only a little more than the plain ones and really simplify the job. plus then you don't have to use gobs of electrical tape.

Looks great. Check out the Mic holders that we'll hang it from your rearview mirror. Do you get any equine noise while your driving?

I didn't realize any equine noise from driving. Mounting the mic on the rear view mirror would still allow the cable to hang in front of the navigation. I already had it mocked up there.

Was just a thought. My truck I get allot off engine noise. I can see the difference when I have the radio on and shut my truck off. I run a 102 inch whip mounted to my tool box. Magnetic antennas won't work for me as they get knocked off riding through the swamp chasing the deer dogs or rounding up cows. I was going to use a Wilson 5000 roof mount but I can't get it centered in the roof with how is designed.

Yeah, mine is a magnetic mount, and it's not exactly centered, it off to one side. I don't think it bothers anything, because really, not many truckers are going to be on your right anyways. There is still a few things I have to do to get it perfect the way I want, but it works for now. I know the Cobra 29 LX HD LE which is the same as the Cobra 29 LX LE, I believe, just without the Harley Davidson emblems, they have a engine noise reduction or something like that integrated right into the CB, you click a button and it reduces most noise coming from the engine.

Edit - it's called a NB-ANL which means Noise Blanker / Automatic Noise Limiter.

Yes they do. I run a connex 3300hp or my icom 706mk2g. I just couldn't bring myself to drill an off center hole in the roof of the truck lol. That radio is great company at times especially when you make a long run alone.

I know the position matters, but mine isn't centers on the vehicle but it is close, I can't on the roof of the truck because it has a factory indent in the hood. I probably could put it directly in the center, but it being in the center, the magent would only be half on the roof of the truck. If I moved it back, the antenna would be at an angle instead of straight up.

That is exactly why I didn't do the roof mount. I was also afraid with the entire base not making contact it could leak or make wind noise also. Mag mounts are great always liked them just being where I'm at doing what I do they don't work for me because I knock them off all the time. I've even considered using a Wilson trucker on my tool box so my antenna isn't so high but it is hard to beat a 102 inch whip.
