97-03 odometer fix
#71
2000. I bought it from a guy that used it mainly as a ranch truck. He beat the hell out of it. I figured it would be a bad cluster. Bought one offline knowing that I would have to have it flashed. When I got the new one I plugged it in and it worked, I was just hoping for the best but was let down. Looks like I'm going to have to fork over the money at the dealership. Thank you for getting back to me.

Thanks for this great post -- I just bought a 2003 F-150 and a week later, I looked down and noticed the odometer was not lit up. The next day, it was. Now I know why. I'm going to try this.
One question (maybe a dumb one)...I'm assuming that when it's not lit up, the miles are still being recorded. Right?

please help
Hello, I have a 2002 f150 4x4 with only 64 thousand miles... My speedometer and tachometer work intermittently. I also had the problem with the odometer not lighting up. I soldered the odometer points and that works fine now. However the Speedo and tachometer still only work intermittently. I know that if I put a used one in I will need to have it flashed or truck won't start, also I would like for the mileage to be correct. A new is going to cost me about 1000 dollars for the new cluster with correct mileage and flashed. What else could I possibly try with the one I have? Are there any specific points that I could resolder to get these to work as the odometer did? Please help!
P.S. my truck starts fine and shifts normally whether speedometer and tachometer are working or not.
