Default 2004-2008 F150 Recon Headlight Install

A Stage 3 Project Truck just wouldn't be a Stage 3 Project Truck without a few things from Recon. Any by a few things, I really mean a whole bunch of aggressive aftermarket lighting components to bring out the best in our F150. Our friends over at Recon were generous enough to send over one of their Complete Lighting Packages for the 2004 to 2008 F150s for our very own 2007 F150 5.4L XLT Project Truck, which included this pair of awesome projector headlights with a black housing. Our black project truck is going for a black and orange "Halloween-style" theme, so these headlights were a great match for our slightly evil intentions. Install is pretty straightforward, though the LED halos and accent strip require some cutting and splicing. Anyway, we were extremely happy with both the look and fit of these lights, and here' how we did it.
To get the ball rolling on our Recon headlight install, we brought our project truck down to Extreme Performance down in Goodyear, Arizona, to recruit some help in the sweltering Phoenix summer heat while we took images and video. Jay was our helping hands on this little adventure, mostly because he's one of the very few people in the world that actually enjoy wiring. The shop was packed, but we were fortunate to not need a lift this time around. We rolled into the garage, and Jay got right to work.
Step one was to get the factory headlights out of the truck, and Jay started that off by removing the two upper headlight mounting bolts from the top of the headlight assembly.

Then Jay removed the two headlight mounting bolts beneath the factory splash shield.
He then moved on the other headlight and removed all four of the same bolts.
With the bolts removed, Jay easily removed the headlight assembly from the truck. Once the headlight was out of the truck, Jay unplugged all the connectors for the factory bulbs.

Jay then transferred over the stock turn signal bulb to Recon's headlight and got to figuring out the wiring for the halos and LED accent.
Since it was the most common place to wire in the halos and LEDs among our customers (and recommended by Recon), we opted to wire both the halos and LEDs into the factory parking lights. Since both sets of wires were going into the same place, Jay started out by soldering the halo and LED wiring together first.

With the wiring tied together and extended, Jay tied the halos and LEDs into the parking light wiring near the turn signal connector harness.
Jay took a minute to clean up his wiring with some electrical tape, before tucking it into our truck and putting the headlight back into position and bolting it down.

Jay then went over the to the passenger headlight, transferred over the turn signal bulb, and wired it up exactly the same way.
Once he finished wiring up the passenger side headlight, he bolted back into our truck.

With the headlights wired and bolted back in, our installation was complete.
