Good to know. So it probably won't work on the 07's without at least upgrading the module too. I wonder if anything else is different.

Whitecrystal, have you seen any of the handles in stainless steel or brushed aluminum? I have stainless panels along the bottom of my truck, so I always look for the stainless versus the chrome. Thanks,

Did Ford make some sort of change in the middle of the 07 model year on that module? I just read a post on f150 online and the guy did it the same way as described and it worked on his 07

I have a 1997 5.4 4x4 3 door that I want to remove the 6 way cd changer frome the left side panel. what i want to know is how to get said panel off without breaking IT.

My 98 xlt has a sort of "chatter" when raising, lowering driver window. I took deep breath, dove in. New manual was not much use- videos and directions, from later, other models are not relevant. Start removing door panel at top- two trim pieces at front (triangular, at mirror) and rear (upright piece vertical on window frame). These pry out, and when out, each will expose the head of screw or bolt securing lower door panel to frame. In my model, these are the only direct fastenings- the rest are molded hooks/inserts.

Next step- door handle. Couple inches left of handle, there is quarter sized plastic insert. Carefully pry out. Inside (I found flashlight on neck lanyard handy through all this) attached to door frame, see a hex head bolt. using long socket, back bolt out carefully- no need to remove entirely- if dropped, be ready to fish out with magnet. This will detach door handle- simply work it out through hole.

At this point, the door panel is ready to lift - remember- up and out. There are essentially four plastic hook/insets along bottom of panel, others at random points, these must be raised and pulled from the door frame.

Once the panel is a few inches from the frame, the wire connecting the small door panel interior light can be removed with a twist. The electric control panel is connected with inserts. This must be pried out, then the electrical connectors detached. (Mine did not want to come out- I left them connected, and was able to work control panel out through opening).

Now entire plastic interior door panel can be pulled away from frame, put aside. A grey waterproof sheet glued to frame must be carefully pulled away from frame (keep it clean). In my case, the four screws holding speaker to frame also went through this, and so had to be removed first.

Removing speaker will also expose opening to the window regulator- flashlight will be handy again here, as well as small mirror. I found that none of the nuts holding regulator in place was even snug, and that a bolt protruding through frame had simply been bent(!) but was still scoring the metal gear device that regulator motor advanced to raise window glass. I cut this, got nut/bolt functional.

It was getting dark- I could still raise/ lower window since I had left control connections intact - not perfect, but better. I reversed each step, backed out and got window back together. Trickiest step is essentially the last- getting bolt to attach door handle in the right place.
