Default How to get your cup holder out if the return spring is broke

To remove your cup holder from the dash if the return spring is broke ....
You can use a piece of coat hanger with about 1/2" on the end bent into an L to "Carefully" pull it back, I used a pick that was bent over on the end to get behind it, when it gets flush with the dash you have to push it back in a little and then pull it back out to release the latching mechanism. you will feel it stop when flush with the dash and thats when you push it in a little and pull it back to the open position.

Ps: Sometimes the spring is floating around in the dash, if you can find it, it looks as though you could reposition it on the cupholder and either drill it out and secure it with pop rivits or use epoxy to glue it back on, my cupholder had a big scratch on the front so I just bought a nice one off ebay.
