How to get your cup holder out if the return spring is broke
#13
I've noticed on several cup holders from those year models that they get gummed up. Take the time to clean the tracks every now and then and they should slide nicely for years to come.
Knock on wood, mine works like new. Could be from me NEVER using it.
Crap I almost forgot! If they get stuck just access it from the glove box. You should be able to get your hand in there behind it and push it loose.

Thank you!!!
Just wanted to say thank you for this thread! I just bought my truck and the cup holder was broke when I bought it. Not knowing what the springs looked like made searching in the dash difficult. The picture badlands posted was exactly what I needed! The springs in my truck were long gone, so I improvised. I used the spring from an extra toilet paper holder and some duck tape and the cup holder works once again. Not sure how long it will last, but I will probably use the hubby's power tools to attach it more securely at some point.

Yea I wondered how to get the thing out, need to replace mine due to the last owner being a smoker and leaving her cigs in the tray (put nasy heat marks on the front). Thanks for the write up!

Has anyone ever experienced that after fixing the spring the light in the cup holder has stopped working? If so please tell me if i have missed some lever or something it has to hit to work again, thanks.
