i used type IIa nylon sleeving and finger trapped loops on each end.

then drilled a 3/32" hole in the metal post/latch thing and used a 3/32" cotter pin....the cotter pins were $0.65, and the nylon was off a 500yd roll i had laying around (so probably about $0.25)....works like a charm, not bad for under $1

I just bought my F-150 and was looking around the interior yesterday and was thinking to myself that the rear seats looked like they folded down but couldn't find a latch. This thread is awesome. I'm going to go home tonight and see if I can't get my seats to fold down too. I'll probably do the cable/drill mod this weekend.

I'm about to do this to my truck. I picked up some coated cable. I've still got to get something to attach it to the post though.

How difficult is it to drill through? I'm curious because I'm debating on taking it off the seat and doing it on my drill press or using a drill by hand in the truck.

It's easy. I did it by hand drill on truck. Just b careful. Broke one bit pressing too hard and jammed the **** out of my hand.

I didn't think it was going to be all that hard, the pin isn't hardened steel; just figured I'd ask so I knew what I was getting into.

I'm making up the cables now as we speak. Got one half done, probably going to do the other when I get home. Hopefully, I can get one side of the truck officially done tonight.

I'm not sure I used the Ferrule and Stop correctly; never used them before. But it should hold up. I'm going to heat shrink this end since this will be the side by the head rest.

Finished up both sides that go on the head rest post. Couldn't do the latch side. The wife decided to tale the truck to work. Took a pic of the finished side.

just went out side to do it as well .. time being used zip ties.. til i can get a nice coated wire and some key rings... and drill out the latches to attach to ..
but yea.. i was wondering myself how do i get back there..

as an emt i could store some gear back there.. ked... small medbag... i like it

Oddly enough the coated wire I'm using is picture hanger wire. Got it at Walmart for about $2. The Ferrules and Stops and key rings I got at Lowe's they were about $4 for everything.

As for getting to the latches. Fold the seat up, then reach behind the seat from the opposite side and pull up on the latch. So, for example if you are doing the "40" (passenger) side you'd need to be in the truck on the "60" (driver) side. You have to reach over the seat so that you can actually grasp the pin. You can do it from outside the truck but you have to contort your arm in such a manner that it is very uncomfortable to grasp the pin.
