Default fold the bottom cushion up

I haven't tried this yet because I'm just reading about it now, but I just read another thread that linked to this one...

Looks like you pull the latch to release the seat back, then fold the bottom seat cushion up and then the seat back should fold down...give it a shot!

I will give that a shot. I had the bottom folded up first.

That worked. The seat can't stay in the up position while folding the back down. That's what I was missing.

Here is a tip that might make folding the seat-back down a bit easier.

I lift the lower seat about 3/4 up (hold it in place with my knee/chest or elbow) and grab the top of the upper seat and push it back (towards the back of the truck). Then lift the latch to fold it down.

I found that when the lower seat is 3/4 up it gives my hand the most room to get to the latch. When I push the seat back it seems to take the pressure off the latch allowing me to pull up the lever with little effort.

This is a 12 Supercrew.

Can anyone post a pic of their seats folded down as far as they'll go? I have some need for having a level fold down and am wondering if this will cure my need.. Seems you can only get a nice level fold down from ram mega cabs and SUVs.. Hoping this gives me a good option!

The 2012 seats will not cure your need I don't think. The backs of these seats weren't made to fold down on a regular basis therefore, their backing is very thin and can very easily be ripped or punctured. Also, they do not fold down very flat. It is handy to put tools or small boxes behind the seat but that is about it.

Very nice easy mod to do to a truck though!

Here are some pics. In my opinion, if you're gonna mount an amp back there its nice to be able to do this, other wise there is not much useful about this. But I put straps on the posts anyways....

Other good thing was..... I was able to push the child seat straps down though the mounts and now are not seen from the seat top. As can be seen in the pic directly above......
